last saturday i had an errand to run at a mall and stopped by tourneau's to check out the nice automatics. a young and very pretty saleswoman offered to show me some really nice watches and we struck up a conversation about watchesshe was also showing me a rolex submariner. i was amazed at her knowledge of watches beyond what she was selling. i was wearing my aristo pilot watch that looks very similar to the i.w.c. mark xvi and she wanted to see it and we began talking about i.w.c. and she knew her i.w.c. stuff even though they did not sell i.w.c. there. what really blew me away is that she knows of dan from orange watch company. she described herself as a watch nerd. i have to say [lets keep this PG-13] she would be a keeper!by the way, just cyber spoke with dan from orange watches (i am going to have him build one for me). i am impressed by his committment to quality rather than throwing out a product below his standards. i may have to wait a little longer but i would rather

Porsche Boxster Watch
Hello:I have a Porsche Boxster watch that I bought in 2002 for about $600. I believe the watch was made by Eterna. I'm having trouble with a sticking second hand. Also, one of the small chronograph dials fell off. Unfortunately, I can't find an Eterna repair facility in the USA to contact about the problems. Can anyone provide any insight on this watch and the name of a company that can fix it.Thanks.Mike

Vintage Patek Philippe Pocket Watch
Greetings! I have never ventured into the Patek world, but clearly appreciate those timepieces which are outside of my price range. Without going into the details, this family heirloom was passed on to me over the weekend. From my minimal research, it shows a serial number of 159057, which appears to be from the time between 1910 and 1915. The movement has the name Chas. N. Hancher; this is also on inscribed elsewhere as it says Made for Chas. N. Hancher Wheeling, WV. Records show that Chas is short for Charles, and that there was an incorporated jewelry store in Wheeling named Cas. N. Hancher from about 1900-1945.Does it work? I am not even sure when the last time this was running, so I am concerned about even testing the movements until I can get it to an expert. My hope is to have an expert service it and put into working operations again. My New Patek 5990 Flaw...
With all the stories lately about ridiculously long service times from patek and inconsistencies with new watches from the factory, I guess you guys can add another to the list.. Was admiring the movement of my 5990 nautilus yesterday and I noticed a little hair fiber inside the movement. Please see the pic below.. this is really the last thing I care to deal with at the moment, but if I don't send it in for service, the fiber could fall into the movement and get caught in a gear, only to cause further problems. Not impressed at all with patek at the moment. red circle around the fiber.
