To say that I was excited about my first visit to the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair ¨C and my first time in Asia, for what it's worth ¨C would be a massive understatement.?You see, over the years, we have written dozens of Inside The Manufacture articles, accumulating our experiences in?plenty of Swiss and other manufacturers, from the tiny one-man workshop to the state of the art manufacturing facilities of industry giants like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and many others.However, it only happens ever so scarcely that we get proper insight into what basically is the engine of the world at this point: China. Certainly, for watches, Switzerland and Japan are both?hugely important, but as one would expect, China represents another level when it comes to output ¨C with a steadily improving level of quality. Vintage Omega Seamaster 1040 cal. Restoration and Service
HiI've recently joined the forum having recently been bought a seamaster pro chronometer for my birthday. However, this is not the reason I am posting. I'm posting regarding my dad's Omega Seamaster 1040 calibration circa 1970 which I inherited. This is the reason I got an Omega.Anyway I sent the watch to Omega for assessment and the price I was quoted for ¡ê916! That includes full service, replacement glass and replacement pushers. I knew it was going to be expensive but I wasn't prepared for that. The watch still works but it really needs brought back to pristine condition.Does anyone know what the value of the watch would be after restoration and before? I'm reluctant to sell it but there is a part of me that would like to see it restored.Once I get the watch back I'll post some pictures.Here's a picture of one I found online.

Arrival: Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT (Limited Edition)
After about a 4-month wait, this Grand Seiko SPGE-021 arrived today. I am just blown away by this watch. The dial is a rich teal green and the textured sunburst makes for a dynamic effect that changes with the light. The polished steel components, including the hands and hour markers, also lend themselves to this dynamic quality, since they reflect light in a seemingly endless variety of ways. It is mesmerizing, to say the least. I can't say enough good things about Joe at Arizona Fine Time, who helped me out with this watch. Everything about the experience has been first rate.The SPGE-021 is a Limited Edition of 150 pieces worldwide and I count myself extremely fortunate to be among that number.Here are the photos:Cheers,Jazz
