Today sees the launch of the Swatch Sistem51 and the fire burns bright once more.Swatch watches were one of the guilty pleasures of my youth. When the Swatch craze took over the world in the early 90's, I was there in the thick of it. I remember going to Swatch boutiques looking for the "Bora Bora", the headline watch of the Scuba 200 series, and even starting a collection of the Swatch quartz chronographs when they first came out. Then, when the Midge Ure song "Breathe" came out, I was singing along like no tomorrow, making sure that I had a carefully selected Swatch on my wrist when it happened.There was something very cool about the attitude that Swatch embodied, and as a young boy whose only other option was a Casio or Seiko, everything by Swatch was instantly?elevated?to something special.?Of course, I grew up and Swatch was resolutely forgotten in?favor?of more sober watches in more traditional?colors. WTF is the Tortoise and WUS is the Hare. Too fast there to keep up and too slow here so I'm doing rain man everyday in checking mat favorite site out. Seriously since its both owned by the same Corp, they should cross promote or at least promote us there.I know some don't want WUS style here but....

quartz watch repair
I have a Philip Admiral quartz chronograph that I recently sent for repair. I changed the battery myself and ever since was not working properlyI sent to a repair center and was told watch had to be disassembled and reassembled with necessary parts. Also threw in a sonic cleaning and 48hr time test. This comes out to $200 bucks. This seems a bit much for a QUARTZ repair. I was told it would be more to replace the movement. I questioned them and they took 10 dollars off Am I being hosed?

My Dad's Breitling
I have my Dad's Breitling, Navitimer, of course it's not working but it is from the 1950's or early 1960's. On the case it's stamped Breitling, Stainless steel and the number #806. Of course it's a chronograph, the dial is black and it looks like the hands and hour markers at on time might of glowed. I would of asked about it years ago but I just happened upon it today when I was cleaning out a cabinet..........If anyone has any information I would appreciate your thoughts, comments and input!!!I did Google Breitling-Navitimer and the dial configuration matches the dials from 1954 to 1955 with the AOPA incorporated in the Wing on the dial with the Breitling name on the back of the case with the number #806. The Breitling name does not appear on the dial just the name Navitimer above the bottom sub-dial.......
