Van Cleef & Arpels Watches At SIHH 2009 Video
One of my favorite watch makers from a novelty standpoint is Van Cleef & Arpels. There is always a little bit of magic in their watches. In the video, the current philosophy behind the brand's watches is made very clear. Essentially they admit that people need watches less today (than in the past) to tell the time, as we can rely on phones and computers. However, luxury watches are still valued for what they call "whimsical complications." To this degree, art becomes as important as function in a watch - and the degree of creativity imbued in their line up is intriguing.The first watch discussed in the video is the Van Cleef & Arpels Day in Paris watch, that I wrote about here on Luxist. Hammy Television Appearance Excitement
While researching my latest watch interest (field mechanical), I came across what seems to be a lot of excitement spawned by a hammy television appearance. I'm no fan nor have I even seen an episode, but these were interesting. Incoming Speedmaster from DavidSW
Fantastic purchase from the professionals at DavidSW. My first Speedmaster (or Omega) and I can't believe I waited this long. I fully understand the following now! This watch is just beautiful in person and on the wrist.On a distressed leather nato until I can have the bracelet sized (those screws are really in there tight!).

How early would this very early Omega Constellation be? (This time with photos...)
Hi there, I recently saw an Omega Constellation reference 2648 calibre 352 in a solid 18k gold case with a very low movement serial number (12280xxx) and case number (11000xxx). Both these numbers are the lowest I have seen on a Connie, and I say this after conducting quite a bit of online research, scouring numerous forums and looking at dozens and dozens of photos of 352 movements. Below are a few photos. (Please excuse the quality... Note that the two photos of the dial were taken under different lighting conditions, which is why in the first the dial color is silvery and in the second it's creamy.) Does anyone here know of a Connie with lower serial numbers? Could this be one of the earliest (known) Connies in existence? Thanks in advance!
