A 2.5 year review of the Baume and Mercier Capeland S Chronograph 8502
In early 2011, I received a pre loved Baume and Mercier Capeland S 8402 from my Uncle Rob. The watch had been worn no more than 2 times, was immaculate, and came with a all boxes, papers and links to the bracelet. For years this had been my grail watch. I did not want this watch because of its horological pedigree. Baume and Mercier is a mid level Swiss Watch brand. Despite the current hype, I don't pretend otherwise. I did not want this watch because I necessarily needed it. I rarely use the chronograph functions. I did not want this watch for its water resistance, although it certainly added to the appeal. I wanted this watch since it came out in 2003 because I thought it was the most beautiful chronograph I had ever seen.I have never bought any watch solely on the basis of aesthetics. Where can I learn more about Movements?
Is there a place on the web I can learn about watch movements? I¡¯ve become interested in learning more about what makes watches work and different movements and what makes each one different or better than another. Are there only a dozen movements or are there hundreds? Is there a list of watch movements or any kind of chart listing what's considered the best to worst movements or something like that? Is that type of thing subjective as to whether or not you personally prefer one movement over the other or is it absolute and there¡¯s really no discussion about which is the best?Also, does such a list also contain the watches that use a particular movement? Before I started reading the archives and learning a bit about watches, I thought each watch maker made their own watches and everything in them, I didn¡¯t realize there were companies that made ¡°movements¡± and sold them to watch companies and in doing some searching I thought I read (though maybe I misunderstood) that the TAG Aquarace

AP AD Vs Grey Dealer
I have been waiting quite a while for a piece I recently put a full deposit down from an AP AD. I was originally promised it would be here within 1-8 weeks once the full deposit was made. Seeing as how it has now been 10 weeks since the date of deposit, I have been constantly questioning the validity of the promise. Playing the waiting game makes me look into other outlets and now I am wondering what are the pros and cons of purchasing from an AD vs a trusted grey dealer. From what I can come up with:Pros of obtaining a piece from an AD:-Specific watch will be 100% original, no chance of an aftermarket part swap-Warranty from AD to last 5 years (since 2017)Pros of obtaining a piece from a grey dealer:-Don't have to wait for the watch as it may be in stock-Price may be lower than an AD since they are more willing to play ballBetween the points that I have listed, is there anything that I have missed? Where Can I See a FC Grand Prix
I've been debating for weeks between a GP and Schumi Ti.I was able to see the beautiful MS last week, in person, for the first time - but i would really like to be able to also see a GP in the flesh.I happen to be going to Vegas next week - I'm sure there would probably not be any dealer with a GP but are there maybe pre-owned shops that have a large selection of AP's that might have one?Alternatively, I also live in the SF Bay area - if anyone happens to know good places to check in the area that I might be able to check one out.The GAS is killing me but Im wary of making a decision, only having seen one of the watches in question.thanks!

Fair price for AP royal oak?
Hello everyone,I am actually very attracted to the AP royal oak.I have been given the wonderful opportunity to own and I am here to seek your esteemed advice in giving a fair price to the seller.The watch in question is a AP 33mm full gold .It does not come with box nor papers.It is a D series.is it from 94-98?Condition of watch is good.Lastly ,in comes with a quartz movement,which is a disadvantage,I have tried chonoswiss and other websites but they do not have the model for sale.
