Relationships
To echo some of the other replies here, "it depends."Certainly if there's a vintage model that's available nowhere else, I'll buy over distance. That's also likely to be a one-time deal, w/ plenty of "buyer beware" stuff salted in for good measure.But my preference is always local. First off, I'd never buy a watch that I hand't tried on, felt, held up to the light, and so forth. Thus, it just feels wrong to me to take advantage of that "value," then hand the watch back to the clerk and head off to cut my lowest possible deal elsewhere. Second, there's a relationship aspect to this: It's great to get scoops from the Forums and in some cases, directly from Omega SA on my own. But, as I've said in other WTF Threads, there invariably comes a time when I want a certain piece that's timely, or hard to get, and I want to know that I an count on an established relationship to go that extra mile in delivering for me.Like you all, I cut my best deal. Seiko Monster question
hello, I'm new to this forum and to watches but I've noticed that the Seiko Monster is a really popular watch around here.I was just wondering why that's so? Is is the looks, the build quality, movement quality (is it a good movement?) or just the overall value?Is this going to be one of those watches that are going to be really valued 10 years from now?Thanks

Gift from parents, sort of.
My folks just got back from 5 weeks in Australia and south east Asia. My dad picked up this at a market in Asia for about $20 USD. It took me a second to figure out why the sub dials don't work, look closely and you will laugh like I did. The big second hand runs all the time, it is an auto, and the Tach units per hour bezel rotates like on a divers watch? Sorry, I removed pictures of the awful fake Daytona, I thought it was funny because it was so bad but others didn't think so.
