Philip Stein 4FMOPGPR wrist watches news:
I know about the 335 and 335ss made in Cincinnati but this movement looks a little freakish. The 21 jewels has beem stamped over to make it 23. It says 23 jewels on the dial. The case is stamped Gruen 335.The only stranger thing I've seen is this Hamilton 987a modified with an added cap jewel.Joel
When I stop the chronograph, the second hand jumps back between 0.5 and a full second. I took it to my watch guy (same one that serviced it after I bought it) and, let's say he was less than hopeful.Any ideas what could cause this?
Another example from the vault not part of my regular wardrobe because it is too mint to risk very often. There are quite a few Curvexes on Ebay, but most are modern recreations. When it comes to an early Curvex, people normally look for long, curved, solid gold, with the original 311 or slightly later 330 movement. Some of the most desirable and earliest cases from 1936 are not marked as made by Curvex or with the typical Gruen numerical nomenclature commonly found on later Gruen cases.. The Curvex Ceneral was introduced for Christmas 1936. My example has a solid 14K case made by Katz and Ogush, a New York jewelry firm who made some high end gold and platinum cases for Gruen. Their "mark" is a stylized K&O. (It's the same firm that eventual Gruen President Benjamin Katz would come from.) It has the 311 movement and the case is 48mm long when measured straight from lug tip to lug tip MUCH longer when measured around the huge curve of the case. (Over 60mm, I think.) Sa
I just purchased an x wind hamilton. (It's the rose gold with the carbon fiber effect strap) I bought it for 999 from a top rated seller on ebay. However the prize is much lower than his competition and I am somewhat concern that it might not be the real deal. I have 30 days to return it once I get it. What are the tell tell signs that it might be a fake?
My watch won't be here for at least 6 weeks if not longer.
