Chopard Chopard 43102 wrist watches news:
The 2013 Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), in which many luxury watch brands introduce their new models for the year, doesn¡¯t take place until late January, but one of those brands, Ralph Lauren, has offered us a preview of one of those new watches, called the Sporting World Time. The latest addition to Ralph Lauren¡¯s Sporting collection, the World Time watch has a rotating disk engraved with the names of 24 world cities, each representing one of the world¡¯s major time zones. The disk works with the second time-zone subdial at 6 o¡¯clock (which also has a day-night indicator) to indicate the time in another zone. The dial, which has a varnished, deep blue finish, also includes a date subdial at 2 o¡¯clock and a semicircular power-reserve indicator at 10 o¡¯clock. Other hallmarks of Ralph Lauren¡¯s Sporting collection on the dial include the white transferred Roman numerals and white, transferred railroad-style minute track. The hours and minutes are indicated by Breguet-style h
Welcome to the second installment in our?Movement Hands-On series, an irregular series of articles where we scrutinize and analyze unique and?interesting?calibers.?In part?one, we took a close look at the highly unusual movement of the MB&F HM6 Space Pirate here,?and today, we continue with the work of another - although in some important?ways?very different - independent watchmaker.Whereas the?high-end watch industry has for long been?largely based on?the co-operation between?specialist craftsmen ¨C working either within the company or at external suppliers ¨C when it comes to independents, most all of the tasks are performed in-houseand for just a handful of independent watchmakers, those tasks are performed not by dozens or even a few, but by just one craftsman. Today,?we are looking at AHCI (Acad¨¦mie Horlog¨¨re des Cr¨¦ateurs Ind¨¦pendants) member Hungarian independent watchmaker Aaron Becsei's proprietary movement, found in the Bexei Dignitas watch. As was the case with?our first ar
In 1983 Seiko began a design partnership with Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro that resulted in the production of a few very interesting pieces in the mid 1980s. For 2013 Seiko has begun a re-issue of these timepieces starting with the first model - the Seiko 7A28 6000. We can't say for sure, but we have a feeling more 1980s Giugiaro watches are coming. Giugiaro is most well-known for his automotive designs, including that of the famous DeLorean DMC-12, along with literally dozens and dozens of other cars. For the most part, the watches he designed for Seiko are spectacular and highly indicative of what 1980s futuristic design was all about. It was European, it was modern, and it alluded to a future that seemed to be as frightening as it was exciting. Seiko's Giugiaro watches gained the most fame by being featured in James Cameron's Aliens movie in 1986. Both Sigourney Weaver's character Lt. Ripley and Lance Henriksen's character, the android Bishop, wore Giugiaro designed Seiko wat
