Those of you in Singapore can pick up a copy of High magazine - which recently hit newsstands. It published by MediaCorp, and it's about watches, jewelry, fashion, lifestyle, and health. All for high-net worth individuals. I am proud to be one of the guest editors, and it was really cool to see my name right there on the cover. It should come as no surprise that I write about watches in the magazine. The magazine is also both in English and Chinese. A fellow guest editor is actually Dr. Andrew Weil who is a really well-known doctor who writes books about healthy living. He is a cool guy and was actually a professor at the University of Arizona while I was going there. Anyhow, my recommendation to luxury loving Singaporeans is to go outand get High.
Here is a series of recent shots of my Omega's. Thank you for taking the time to take a look. This set has been built up over a few years and I don't have plans to add to it - though the Hour Vision is calling me like a siren.. oh dear!finally...
This watch has been a grail of mine since I first laid eyes upon it about a year and a half ago. I never thought I would lust after a Japanese watch, but Seiko really opened my eyes with their beautiful craftsmanship and exceptional value. For those who don't know, the Alpinist line has a long lineage dating back to the 1950s, and has always been designed with the outdoorsman in mind. The SARB017 is the last-generation Alpinist, since replaced by some newer designs that I don't particularly care for. The watch is water resistant to 200 meters and is powered by Seiko's in-house 6R15 movement. The watch arrived from Japan packed up nicely:The Chino Brothers always take care of their customers. I got a very nice special gift in my box:Outer Box:Inner box and manuals:The inner box isn't nearly the same quality as I've come to expect from domestic brands and the europeans. Apparently the Japanese do this crazy thing which I've termed "focusing on the watch instead of the packaging". I
I've owned this Autavia nearly two years. It originally came to me on a green nylon Zulu as an original PVD bracelet falls into the category of "unobtanium".Since that time I have been on the hunt for a leather strap that would do the watch justice. I think I have found two.The first is the Crown & Buckle black Calfskin Leather NATO. The Autavia requires a very thin strap to fit between the spring bars and the PVD case, and this strap fits the bill. It's made from an extremely soft leather and the suede finish of the inside of the strap allows it to cling to the wrist and securely support the chunky Autavia. The buckle and rings are polished stainless steel and look good with the Autavia's PVD finish, but I'll be purchasing another and attempting to give them a darker finish. All and all, a very satisfactory military look is achieved using the Crown & Buckle Calfskin Leather NATO.This strap comes in 18, 20 and 22mm widths, and I'm hoping Crown & Buckle will produce a 24mm v
