Important Hamilton wristwatch information from Rene Rondeau
The information below was written by Mr. Rene Rondeau in early 2005. I tripped over it recently, and after some recent discussions with friends here (Rene included), I thought that the WTF might be interested in some additional historical context relating to the study of Hamilton wristwatches. (I still wonder if somewhere in those boxes might have been important never-discovered Illinois information also?) Since Rene is truly the dean of Hamilton wristwatches, it might be nice to have a spot to assemble the important posts he has made and perhaps long forgotten. I will continue to add his old posts when I locate them. 11 Omegas and 8 Longines.how did that happen? Wait, I know - there's been nothing but schlock and redials on eBay when it comes to vintage Longines. Just took care of that with a nice deal to snag 2. Rolling the dice since the seller is not a watchmaker and didn't know what was inside, but I did need an Admiral auto so I pounced. I'm guessing it has a 340 since it has no date and is inside the front loading 1200 series case. That's a movement missing from my box - the Flagship has a date-at-12 341. Getting a caliber I don't have powering a series I don't have is a nice way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. The other watch is a manual wind with a subdial at 6 with a dial that looks like a 50's 22L, or maybe 23Z. A 12.68 would be cool too. Any of the 3 would fill another hole, but I'd like the 22L since that would be the last remaining 22x series I need.So I had to ask myself: "Do I feel lucky?" The answer was yes, but let's see if I'm worth my salt with my guesses. I'm posting

Do you know roughly what the history of these two similar but different dials is? Which one was first? When did they make the change?Both are blue sunburst, correct?
