Comments on THIS Rolex Precision?
Okay time for me to get serious. Specific to the watch shown here, I'd appreciate any comments on things you see in terms of Franken substitutes, if there's anything here that would lead you to think it a fake, and overall observation.Photo credit: eBay user "sanderson_and_son"Second, and possibly even more important, I'm looking for some help in terms of understanding the "Precision" line. I'm looking for a thinner-cased watch from the late 1950s, so probably not an automatic. What was the time period for the Precision? What demographic did it target? Breitling Chronomat
I was in a SAMs recently and they had a Breitling Chronomat for $5,900. I have seen the same one at a local Breitling dealer for over $10,000. I called Breitling and they said since SAMs wasn't an authorized dealer the watch would not have any warranty. For the savings I would consider risking it. Breitling also said SAMs most likely got it when they purchased inventory from a business that was closing. Give me your thoughts.

I knew Rolex was big, I guess I thought Breitling was bigger. There are a lot of names on the list I have never heard of.

Patek vs A Lange & Sohne
It wasn't until recently, less than 2 months that I got interested in Patek, so much that I ordered 1 week ago a 5712, and I have been looking since a few days into ALS, for curiosity purposes.I find many of their pieces quite fascinating, especially some which one could expect at much higher price levels are relatively well priced for the renowned quality of this brand, for example the Langematik perpetual calendar, or the Lange 1 time zone.I like that many of their models are hand wound, I love automatic watches but hand wound pieces give you a deeper relation with the watch IMO.From what I read on TRF most Patek fans put PP and ALS either on the same level of quality and craftsmanship or PP first but ALS in second.I never saw one in real but on photos they do seem to have a superior level of quality, the finish on them seems impeccable.Unfortunately even if I find them very beautiful and not too expensive for some interesting models, they are too much in the dress watch section for
