Newbie intro + some watches..
Hey there, just became a member of the forum there n thought i should say hi Im a 22 year old Irish guy studyin Horology in Birmigham (eNGLAND )At the minute we have only been learning the basics though, but im very interested in the subject so im enjoying it a lot!Seen an ad in the local Freecycle here last week and went to pick up some horology tools and watches and clocks from a nice old guy who is moving house.What a find! Lots of WW1 tools and clocks and watches, i was over the moon. I have been trying to identify some of the watches, but im not really sure how to go about it The one that i can think of at the minute is a gold (halmarked) Tissot watch.It says Q on the face above Tissot, and it has a a day and date window at the side.Can anybody shed some light on this? i would be grateful of any info on any of themok, so these are some of the watches that i have aqquired.. Calling on AP aficionados. Again....
Hey All. I have asked for some help on an AP matter in the past here: .rolexforums/showthrea...=187094&page=2Well this is related to that same situation. I decided to sell the other two watches I owned and now I just have the Rolex Sub-C. Obviously, I still want the AP ROO Diver! Now, I am not an expert on AP and I am just wondering about the longevity of their models. I need to save for a bit to get the AP. I am willing to save for a year or two if need be to get a new one (which I prefer). How long do you guys see the Diver being around? I can't help this feeling I have that I did this backwards. Maybe I should have gotten the AP Diver then saved back up for the Sub. We all know the Sub will be around for at least 15-20 years unchanged! So...did I do it backwards or do you think the Diver will be around and available new for years to come?? I know no one can tell me for sure, I'm just looking for the opinion of those who have been following AP for longer than I have. Thanks!

Deep & dark scratch on polished bezel
Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice. I'm pretty careful with my watches but realize that inevitably, they will get their 'everyday' wear which includes some scratches. But these on my PAM seem to be dark and quite noticeable as opposed to your 'normal' hairlines. Not even too sure when & how it happened and just noticed it today. Here are some crude iphone pics but hope you can see them clearly...they are on the polished bezel and case around 5 o'clock. Running my finger over them, they don't feel like deep dings. Has anyone on the forum ever had similar scratches like these? Any thoughts on a DIY job with cape cod cloths? Naturally I can just wait until service but would love to get your thoughts on doing something now. Thanks everyone!

EXPLAINED-Rolex wants to keep quality standard high & costs low
I think we have been cynical of Rolex. The high demand of specific SS sports models is the reason for the markets low supplyThis is why:Keep quality high: They will spend the same amt of time manufacturing a watch. They cannot tell their employees to work faster to increase supply. They want to keep giving their customers flawless models....and I wouldn't expect anything besides flawless from Rolex.Keep costs low: Rolex will not hire extra employees and train them because is huge money. AND for a possible temporary boom in specific SS models, they will not hire extra people. They would need lease a bigger office space for the watch makers AND buy more machines that are automated.....this is some serious $$$WE are the reason for the short supply in the market of SS models.Lastly---If Rolex were to increase production, demand would HAVE to be across ALL models...not just the SS sports ones.Dont blame Rolex.....they are not cutting production or under supplying the market......its simply
