When last we looked at Melbourne Watch Co., I was pleasantly impressed by their first watch, the Flinders. It was well executed, refined, had a few surprising details and, most importantly, was enjoyable to wear. Beyond all else, it made me make a mental note that Melbourne Watch Co had some design chops, some clever ideas and clearly was a brand to watch. Today, we're excited to talk about their next watch, the Portsea, which is currently kicking ass over on Kickstarter, having quickly blown through the initial goal and one stretch goal.It seems as though Marine Chronometer inspired watches are making a bit of a comeback. Sure, several brands have seemingly always offered classic interpretations, but we've seen a handful recently release ones, both affordable and not, that take the look, restyle it, making watches that are new designs. I know this subject has been discussed many times, but I wanted a current opinion. I am looking to buy a SS Daytona with a white face. I have acess to both the Zenith model and the newer all Rolex with the 4130 movement. I know all the differences. Is the Zenith a better choice because it is no longer made or is the newer model with what some say are far better improvemnts the way to go. I know there are "vintage" proponents and "New" folks. The location of the sub dials and size of the hands don't really matter to me. Your opinion and why will be appreciated as I would like to buy very shortly. Thanks.
