Need help with 1947/48 Omega
I have what I believe to be a 1947 or 1948 Omega & need some help with it. It's a 14k gold Omega Automatic, the case is 33mm. Omega Automatic is written on the dial, the only factory markings on the case are "W 14K GOLD". It's inscribed on the back "To Henry Karr for loyal service Cleveland Crane & Eng. Co. 1902-1948".The movement is numbered 10757531. The pendulum(bumper?) reads "OMEGA WATCH Co, SWISS, UNADJUSTED, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS". The inside back of the case reads "OMEGA, Wadsworth, 14K GOLD, T603737". The dial has the Omega symbol & OMEGA AUTOMATIC on it. The hands & number markers are gold, with the odd numbers represented by lines. Even numbers are actual numbers.The watch hands move when the crown is turned & the bumper swings freely but the watch does not run. The case & crystal are in excellent condition. Unfortunately the dial is dirty & has tiny scratches in 2 different spots.I've always liked Omegas & used to own a Constella

Thoughts on Canvas Khaki King
I've wanted a Hamilton for many years and now I find that I want a ton of them. I will probably go with my first impulse and buy the Khaki King with the canvas strap.I don't think there are any sellers around me, but I was able to handle one of these in Las Vegas. I was surprised at the weight of the watch. Very heavy. Does anybody have any thoughts on the canvas strap? Does it hold up well to water? What does it look like after a few years?I really like watches without intricate dials that I won't use. Hamilton has plenty of watches with all the bells and whistles, but they seem to have a lot of simple watches that look fantastic. Strange that when I tell people I want a Hamilton watch they say "a what?" That's fine with me.Tony

I am considering getting a pocketwatch and would love to see some. I have an old Russian sekonda pocketwatch somewhere which needs fixing. Still looks great but not running at the moment.I was thinking that maybe an old Omega or Smiths pocketwatch would probably be great choices

Which ROO 42 (for an active lifestyle)?
Hey,After receiving several great suggestions, I have narrowed down a list of AP ROO 42s that are lightweight, scratch resistant and durable plus style and looks are important.Probably going to pass on the RM (for now), mainly because of cost, not because I don't love it.Anyway, here are 5 ROO 42s that seem to look good on paper that meet my criteria. Hi fellow Trf-membersA lot of advice, watch-surfing, a little enabling and not a lot of common sense ;-) has finally let me in the direction of my first Patek. Had a trip to Rome, Italy, planed with my two children and by chance I found a mint unworn 5711 blue dial in a shop in Rome I know from before. It's a short flight from Denmark and I go there a couple of times a year to relax, sightsee and enjoy the Roman cuisine ;-)This spring I picked up my first PM watch (116718LN) in Rome so it has been a nice watch-year for me ;-)Tomorrow we are flying to Rome and I'll pickup my new watch in the afternoon if all goes by plan. I have an option on a 5712 but I'm pretty confident that I will be posting pics of a 5711 in the Roman sun tomorrow ;-)Thank for the advice, guidance and not least patience. RegardsAlexander Ps.
