Introducing The Swatch Big Classic Collection, Casual Watches Just In Time For Spring
A few months ago we sat down with Swatch Creative Director Carlo Giordanetti?to get an inside look at the history of Swatch, its relationship to the art world, and the spring/summer 2014 collections. Today we're focusing on the Big Classic collection, a set of seven new watches that offer a more conservative take on Swatch's directional styles. To celebrate, Swatch has even opened a temporary concept store in London's famous Harrods department store.? 2 OF 4 The Big Classic collection starts with Swatch's 41mm stainless steel "Irony" case, meaning the watches are slightly larger and more robust feeling than the more typically-seen plastic Swatches. From there, there are a few different dial, bezel and bracelet styles. You can go with a simple black dial with the date down at 6 o'clock, a thin bezel, and a black crocodile-embossed leather strap with deployant buckle, or you can select a pilot-inspired variation with broad hands and a wider, graduated bezel. Nice Barrel Engraved but...
Currently on the swamp is a really nice Barrel Engraved (Wreath) 14KWGF # 220826536590. The only thing is that I would swear that the dial in this watch is for a Grant. The interesting thing is that the minutes track really does fit quite well with the bezel, the real give away is the seconds track; on the Barrel it's always round!

Another Great Day at European Watch Co in Boston v.Pics
I decided to stop in European Watch Co as I am looking to add a dressier piece into my collection. Everytime I am there the experience gets better. I get greeted by everyone with smiles as I walk in. Josh came right over and remembered my name. We chatted for a bit and I found out Josh had just got back from Geneva (Christy's 175th auction and the other auction). Very cool! You can tell he and everyone there is so passionate about watches.The cool thing is they have something for everyone! From watches under 5k to plenty of pieces north of 50k. All the employees are present and helpful and fun to just talk with. There is no cold sell them on the spot nor snobby atmosphere everyone who loves watches is welcomed with open arms.I happened to run into two buddies I had met at the first BostonRedBar meeting a few weeks ago (Shane ) and found out about the second meeting Tuesday, will be going for sure Anyway, just a fun experience trying on a bunch of great watches and narrowing down the li

Opinion on first Watch Purchase
I am 40 years old and I am about to buy my first watch. I have narrowed it down to the 5146g in slate dial with black strap or the aquanuaut 5167 with the stainless bracelet. I am torn.My dress at work is mostly biz casual and I wear suits some days and jeans on others. This will be my only watch and I would like something that I could give to my son one day although this will be an every day watch for me. I am not rich but I have put aside the money so cost is not a deciding factor between the two although I would like something that will hold value. Any opinions would be helpful and appreciated.
