Entry into the world of Omega
Well I made the leap and bought my first Omega. The PO XL Black. The back story is that a few years ago I was on a cruise (RCCL) and wandered through on of the shops on board. I saw the Seamaster Bond co-ax for the first time. Could not get my mind around paying $3k + for a watch. Fast forward a couple of years and a couple of cheap throw away watches later. I decided to consider spending more than coffee money for a watch.Search the forums read tons or reviews etc etc. But all the time kept remembering how awesome that Omega Seamaster looked and felt those years ago. No no no way I could spend $3K plus for a watchbut boy that was something...something about that day never left me. The weight, the precision, the way it felt on my wrist....Ok ok...no way I could spend $3K on a watch.But I will call around anyway and maybe try one on..Reach Jared in NH. Solar Flares --Yo CometHunter
The sun is having a major bout of solar flatulence (ok, not technically passing gas per se but...) today which some may interpret as the beginning of the process that will lead to the end of the world in December but I wonder if these solar flares are going to have any negative effects on: a) mechanical watches ( say, increased magnetism in the air) and b) quartz ( say, electro magnetic pulses). Yo CometHunter, give us the astronomical straight dope. Of course, any member with a good working knowledge of astro physics can pipe in as well.

Tell me that I'm sane! (15300 contrasting date ring?)
I really want an originally sized Royal Oak (read not 41mm), but the 15202 is out of the question due to price. Therefore my next step, is naturally to look to a 15300. Now I was initially leaning to either a blue or black dial in any Royal Oak model, but that DAMN contrasting date ring on the 15300 just makes me want to pop a vein and start murdering people!Please tell me I'm not the only one!?P.S. I have come to a realisation that I do actually like the white dial a whole lot more than I initially thought
