Waking up this morning way too early because it is so humid I could not sleepand I am excited about Earl showing up (I have been through a couple of tornados but this is my first hurricane) I decided to see the latest features on Youtube and I found this gem. It has to be the Simple Simon School of Watch Repair. The guy is cleaning a fake Rolex. His tools of choice: a push pin and SCISSORS! Yes this guy uses scissors to open up the back. Since the title was watch cleaning I was expecting to see the watch cleanedbut NOOOOO! The guy is cleaning lint from the inside of the watch crystalusing tape at that. I was expecting a can of WD-40 to show up followed up by a bottle of Mr. Clean. What a bummer. I did not know that fake watches come with lint inside of them. Of course, seeing the ease of opening the back I can only wonder if the lint penetrated through the sealsif any exist at all. The second youtube video is the Simple Simon Watch Repair lecture on how to remove the cyclop
Anyone pick up one of these? Like the yellow and the orange ones, figure they would be unloved and get one down the road at a discount.
What do you guys think of the white ceramic planet ocean
So...My ploprof bezel started to be a bit stiff, so I decided I have to be brave and pop the bezel off and give it a bit of a clean. My plan is to make this watch (all original watch) an active dive watch, which means I have to replace the crystal and crown gaskets at some point. I might replace them myself, as it would be a nice little project, and then have it tested for water proofness. So today I popped the bezel. And it was DIRTY under there. And I also found something interesting...So here we go...Some masking tape, and a small Victorinox pocket knife where my tools.Bezel came off really easily.Bezel popped off. I started to insert the blade between the case and bezel, and push inwards, no twisting at all, and it literally said pop. Then I slowly started moving the blade around the bezel, gently twisting the bezel free from the case.As you can see, there was some 10 years worth of dirt.Backside of the bezel, very dirty too...A good q-tip dry slightly moist (since I'm not sure it's
