An old Mafia don is dying & called his grandson to his bedside.....................Don- I want you to have my custom made Sig Sauer automatic pistol soyou will always remember me.Grandson- But grandpa, I don't like guns. I'd rather have your Rolex.Don- What if you come home & find your wife in bed w/ another man? What are you going to do then....point to your Rolex & say "time's up".
Just a quick post. Took my GMT-Master II in for bracelet adjustment. Thought I'd need one link removed. Nope; just adjustment holes were enough. No charge (even if links had been removed). Very nice.
Hello all, this is my first post to the WTF so I hope someone can help me. I have my great grandfathers old Longines and hope to get some info on it. The dial reads Longines Automatic and has the seconds hand separate from the hour and minute hands. The watch is marked 10K Gold Filled and Use 1200 Wrench on the back cover. You can see more in the pictures. I have looked through my copy of "The Complete Price Guide to Watches 2012" and can't find the exact model that my watch is. Again, I hope someone can help me. Thanks, Matt.longines dial.jpglongines back.jpg
Newbie Alert! Great forum, lots of good info here, need some assistance. I've owned a Seiko Pepsi 6005 in bue since new. Stopped working about 25 years ago, been dragging it around since. I haven't worn a watch for a couple of years, but some friends have been leading me to the appreciation of a fine timepiece. Last night I brought it out to show a knowledgeable neighbor. He thought it very cool, and so it got my bug going. Today, I bought an OEM Stainless bracelet (Took mine off years and replace with velcro for diving) on Ebay, & I contacted what I assume to be a reputable repair shop. He responded quickly with a "I used to refuse these due to parts inavailability, but some are now available." Non firm quote would be $400- 450. My crystal is pretty rough, but the case is VG, and all seems to be working fine. (Other than it isn't running - stopped after I had it cleaned. Man did that **** me off!)It looks like these sell for $ 200-300. Am I nuts to spend (call it) $500
I am sure all of us have here different taste and like various watches fordifferent reasons. Over years, I have studied many catalogues or onlinepictures of numerous references. There are several PP watches that I like a lot but some have thatone little thing that (of course just 'to me') bumps the model down on my 'want list' just a little.here are some examples that I picked myself (or have heard from other PP fans): - I wish that the beautiful 5159 came with simple applied hour markers instead of Romans. - I really like 5396 and was 'this close' to buy it, but I think that I would like it better with a cleaner - non-sector dial. - a lot of folks like 5960, but can not stand the colors found on chrono sub-dial. - some people like 5065, but do not like the "no. 3" tucked in front of the date window. What is that little thing that bugs you and on which model?.
