IWC IWC 16526 wrist watches news:
For this edition of Pairs Well With we chose an iconic Max Bill hand-wound by Junghans. As one of, if not the, definitive Bauhaus watch, it is defined by its legibility and clean form. Thin black lines mark the perimeter of the watch and bring the eye outward to the minute markings and inward to hours. Nothing is fussy and nothing is unnecessary. Originally produced in the 1960's and later reintroduced, it is clearly a timeless design that has informed the look and feel of many generations of watches.? The goal of the pairing was to find articles of clothing that are similarly to the point, classic, purposeful and can be worn in both casual and work settings.Max Bill Watch with a 34mm polished steel case, 17-Jewel hand-wound movement with Incabloc protection and a tan calfskin strap. I have a few very modestly priced mechanical watches (Seiko 5, Invicta Skeleton, Swatch Irony Diaphne). I noticed with the Invicta, that the balance wheel seems to move faster when I shake my wrist as if running fast at the gym. I wondered if this had any impact on how fast the watch runs, or if the rate that the gears turn at is constant. Same question applies for automatic watches. I know the speed the rotor turns dictates how quickly the watch gets wound. But, does the balance wheel (escapement?) move faster, causing the watch to run faster, when I am running at the gym?I have always found the concept that the resting position of a watch affects the accuracy, to be annoying. And, I can understand little anomalies causing accuracy to fall off, but I think it would be very bothersome to know that my watch is running fast every time I run. Thanks for your time and I'll take my answers off the air.
After a few years of ownership of the 15703, and long deliberation, I made the change. A bit goofy financially, but I'm loving the display back and the (less interesting but arguably cleaner looking) matte dial.
I had the opportunity to trade my Omega PO for a near mint Breitling Skyland Avenger 45mm today.... and I'm so glad I did! I purchased my Omega PO 45.5mm Orange bezel when the watch was first released about 10 years ago. It was just one of those watches that spoke to me when I tried it on. But as time went on I wore it less. Maybe it was because the orange bezel didn't really fit my work attire. So I came across a local dealer selling a pre-owned Avenger and worked out a straight across trade. I think I the better end of the deal for sure. My PO retailed for $3300 when I purchased it and the Avenger was $5000. Today the PO sells online around $2000 and the Avenger sells for $2700. My first Breitling! Hopefully not my last!
