IWC IW376701 wrist watches news:
I do not often buy watches from "Stan Czubernat" <lrfantiquewatches@yahoo.com>, not because he does not do fine work, indeed in my opinion he may do it too well. So why do I not buy from Stan? Because I am a purist in my thoughts on horology, I want the timepiece to stay as close as it was to its original state, patina, warts and all.So why did I buy this silver 1918 Elgin with offset crown? Well, the watch is 100% original, albeit with the case over polished, BUT, as this timepiece originally never had a lumed dial or hands, Stan had nothing to change there, he just cleaned them up.So now we have a very early and quite unique early American wristwatch, with its original dial, hands, movement and case and the case is just a bit over polished - decided it was acceptable to me. But why?We know very well now that no American 'true' mans wristwatch existed prior to 1916 (and probably none of those were sold), Elgin and Waltham promoted the mans wristwatch very strongly against
My first time here and I just have a quick question. I've got about $2000 to spend on a good watch. I've gone back and forth and I keep coming back to Omega. I absolutely love the Omega Seamaster 300M in the Black wave dial (212.30.41.20.01.002). I like the blue as well, but I think black is more versatile. I've read a few articles about Omega's 2500 co-axial movement not being as good as the 1200. I can save some money going with the older 1200 movement, but I really want something close to new condition. Now, I know this watch is closer to $3000 new, but I've found a few pre-owned ones in very very good condition closer to $2k.I guess here's my question:First, is the Omega a good choice for the price range? There are other watches I like more, but my budget is what it is. Am I missing something else that's out there that may be a better value? I like one of the Tag Aquaracers, but not nearly as much as the Omega.Second, what is your honest opinion of the Omega? I've read m
Hi,I came across this site while doing research for a new watch purchase and I have been amazed at the wealth of information and the helpfulness of the members. I try to make more of an informed decision these days as I have a greater respect for my dollar and where it comes from.I love the style of the Rolex Submariner but I can't see spending that much on a time piece at this point in my life. Luckily there are many options available with a similar look and style without that hefty price tag. Now, if you were able to purchase such a piece that is great and I would love to have a look. However, it's not in the cards for me. A friend told me to look into buying a fake Rolex and that just didn't sit well with me. I'm sure they have their place in the watch market but I'll have to pass. Also, the one he was wearing has stopped working and the idea of taking it to the local jeweler seems to give him pause. I may have narrowed it down to a few and wanted to get other member's opini
You PP guys are enabling me and the AP guys are enabling me. What to do? I know I'm posting on the PP forum, but those of you that have both in your collection please enable me some more to make the decision This would be my first PP or AP!
The result of about 15 years of collecting. So many mistakes along the way (Panerai, IWC, AP) but always a return to the only two watchmakers I care about!
