IWC IW500401 wrist watches news:
WatchTime’s 2014 “Inside Basel.Geneva” event tour wraps up this week in San Francisco (October 2). West coach watch aficionados who attend this final IBG show of the year will have the opportunity to see and try on many new watches, including several standout models from respected indie watch brands F.P. Journe, Greubel Forsey and Parmigiani Fleurier.Watchmaker and brand founder Francois-Paul Journe created the F.P. Journe Chronom¨¨tre Optimum to be “the essence of precision.” The watch, available in 40-mm and 42-mm cases in platinum or 18k rose gold, brings together, for the first time in a single timepiece, a number of notable inventions in its solid gold movement. These include a double barrel in parallel with two springs to ensure the stability of the driving force; a patented constant-force remontoire (the first to be made in titanium) to balance the driving force to the escapement and ensure the isochronism of the balance; and a high-performance bi-ax
HAPPY NEW YEAR ROLEX FANS!I've been spending time with family and friends this week, but I've also worked on my comparison between the Rolex Submariner 16613 and the new Submariner 116613 - click here to read the article! As always, please reply to this thread with any comments or questions.
went to the Timecrafters watch show this afternoon, some interesting moments especially from AP and ALS (more pics below for ALS) got to talk to watchmakers and enjoy seeing them tinker.in particular, i had a nice conversation with the AP watchmaker, he was exceptionally pleasant and genuine… a credit to the brandso most fascinating for me, some may remember i recently pointed out in another thread that i noticed a inconsistency between dials in the patisserie count on the Jumbo 40th, some have 8,9 or possibly 10 points from the center of the dial to the left edge of the date wheel. i asked APs watchmaker why the difference from one dial to the next… he explained that the Pantogragh (brilliant video if you haven't seen it, you must! .hodinkee/blog/2012/1/...royal-oak.html ) as it is mechanical needs to be dialed in for the correct depth, measured by the texture of the dust that comes off the dial, the dial will be adjusted by feel … the end result being, no two dials
Some in-hand observations about the AP Diver (i have used my rolex sea dweller as a reference where i thought it would lend some perspective, not trying to compare the two as they are apples and oranges)In the realm of dive watches, the AP certainly stands out as unique, 1st it is a dive watch without an external bezel, quite uncommon, 2nd It has a movement that is beautifully finished and topped with a 22 carat gold rotor. The internal bezel is a neat complication & works nicely, it gives you a different way to interact with the watch & I like this. I time things frequently on dry land and although setting the bezel can't be done under water, its a very rare occurrence that I would want to use it that way, I guess I would just use my SD for the rare occasion i went diving. this is my first AP so many of its components / attributes strike me for the first time, so here are a few of my novice observations¡STYLE: the AP diver maintains the styling cues of the classic royal oak, t
