2008 vs current AT
Hello everyone, i've just joined the forum after browsing for quite some timeI was about to purchase a white dial/Gold AT until i became aware of the new, or soon to be released AT model. The slightly more aggressive/sporty looks of the new versions look stunning to my eye and makes me hold off my purchase until i can see one in the flesh.However, given the new calibre co-axial movement i assume that these watches will be significantly more expensive than the current ATs which leads me to ask whether anyone has the head's up on prices of the new versionsthe steel bodies in particular.I read an estimate of ?2400 or so (somewhere), which is surprising given that current models are around ?1600. A 50% increase seems staggering and clearly would be placing the AT line at quite a different level from the models being replaced.Do any of you guys know the price of the new AT? If not, would you really anticipate a 50% increase over the current line?

Rubber Strap
After finally removing the buckle (Thanks Rob), I replaced the leather strap with the rubber one. Panerai's quick change system for straps is quite excellent. A very simple process. I would have to disagree with the instruction manual saying its easy to remove the buckle with the screwdriverI have to say the rubber strap looks quite good. Gives the watch another unique look! Will post another wrist shot tomorrow

What to buy?
(I made a thread like this before and it was deleted, apparently. I looked over the FAQ and other sticky posts and I don't seem to be violating any rules, so I'm posting again.)I'm looking to buy a first watch, preferably a decent but affordable one. A few recommended me the Seiko 5 military watch at the lowest of the price line and the Seiko Spirit for a little more money. I don't really care about brand as long as the watch looks nice and is mechanical or automatic for a more authentic feel. I'd prefer a leather strap, though I read it's better to start out with a metal bracelet. So basically my question is what would you guys recommend for my first watch? I really would like to stay between $100-200, but if everything at that price isn't worth it, I might be willing to go higher. For example, is the Seiko Spirit really worth the extra cash over the Seiko 5?As for the Seiko 5, which might be best for a first watch considering the low price, I can't seem to find any with a canvas wris

Off to Geneva tomorrow...
The weather forecast is good and I feel like a day out.... so I have decided on a quick trip to Geneva tomorrow (about a 2 hour drive from home).I intend visiting the PP salon (one of only three) to check out Aquanauts and Nautilus (Nautili?)....and AP's Crown Jewel boutique to see the various Royal Oaks.I shall make sure I have a good lunch, if only to follow Gerardo's example, and will certainly pay curtesy visits to a couple of Rolex ADs...I do not intend purchasing on this trip (famous last words), but hope to come away having decided between a 15400, ROC, and Aquanaut.Will post an update when I get back.....
