Two Vintage Breguet Pocketwatches Added to the Brand’s Collection of Historic Timepieces
Montres Breguet added to its private collection of historically significant watches, when brand president and CEO Marc A. Hayek acquired two important lots at a Christie’s Geneva auction last year: the Breguet no. 4039, a half-quarter repeating watch with an off-centered hour dial and date indication, and the extremely rare Breguet Tourbillon no. 1176.The first watch, the Breguet no. 4039, was originally sold to the Duke of Berwick on September 30, 1825, and went for a final auction price of? 70,000 Swiss francs at Christie’s. It is a remarkable example of one of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s extra-slim repeating timepieces made “sur les principles des chronom¨¨tres” (on the principles of chronometers). The Breguet No. 4039 has a case made of 18K gold and is outfitted with the “Caliber 21”'” movement, with an additional complication for the date indication (in a window at 6 o’clock). Sorry, the questions was just too long for a title.Has anybody you care about very much ever given you a watch that you would never have picked out?My late step-father bought me an Apollo 11 25th Anniversary watch, knowing that I have an interest in watches. The gesture was extremely nice, and he was a great man. So far, what I've done is that I wore it a couple of times when my wife and I were going to their house, but now it sits in a drawer with a dead battery.I'm thinking of getting a new battery for it and wearing it once or twice a month, just because it's a reminder of what a great guy he was.Any similar stories?

Big trouble brewing now!
So, I am in Miami for two weeks with my wife and kids and of course watch watching and shopping is a must. Yesterday at my hotel Fontainebleau there is a watch store which I have purchased from before, they had a bunch of AP, mainly the one I have been thinking about is the 44 rose gold, 26401 which I have been on my mind. Love it....but then I went to the AP boutique at Bal Harbor tonite and they have all the new releases including the new 44 rose gold....I can't decide! The difference is that the older version can be had for about 10k cheaper. What to do!!!!?!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Scratched dial on new Patek
Bought a Patek 5167 last week from my local AD. It was brand new and sealed fresh from the factory.Over the weekend I noticed a very faint but long scratch on the dial. It's only visible from certain angles and under very strong light. It runs from near the 4/5 o'clock hour markers all the way up through the last P in PHILIPPE and finishes near the 12 o'clock marker.I'm just wondering what I should do. Whether I should return the watch or just get used to it. I don't really want the watch to be gone away for a long time and I definatly don't want PP to polish or scratch the case or anything like that. I've had small, faint scratches on a couple of Rolex dials which never bothered me so just wondering what you guys would do in my boots please.Here's a couple of photos. It was very difficult to photograph under a magnifying glass and I could only capture parts of the scratch.Thanks for looking.
