It surprised me to learn that Longines has close to 100 years of history with horse racing. In fact, Longines has a lot of history altogether. Like many historic watch brands still alive today, Longines spent much of its life as a watch movement maker run by engineers. This is an interesting point because, according to long-standing Longines CEO Walter von Kanel (who has been at the brand for over 40 years), a major difference between watch brands of today and those of yesterday is who ran the show.He reminds us that watch brands used to revolve around new movements. The engineers would develop a new movement and then design a watch around it. Was invited to see the Basel offerings at our local boutique. I'm probably in the very small minority that would rather have a non LE model. Both are beauties and it was a hard choice but in the end (for now) I put a deposit down for the lighter dialed one on bracelet, delivery later this year, will be waiting impatiently. 5164 vs 5726
My local AD dealer has 5164 and 5627 in strap available This is going to be my first Patek purchase. I love both of them. This is really a hard decision for me... i need a little help from Patek community to help me decide5164 is more casual and 5627 is more dressy ....which watch would you pick as your first Patek?? Or should i put myself on wait list for 5167 or 5711??Thanks in advance

Rolex should have culled the range !
Given the new Pepsi release I'm rather surprised Rolex didn't axe a couple of sports watches from there range the deepsea 44mm has been tweaked rather than being discontinued which I was sure would go this year , the orange hand explorers have also been poor sellers .And the 3 versions of the milguass are generally dragging there feet .that being said the professional range is rather extensive to say the least I'm sure prices will now ease , too much choice has to drive prices down .
