Oris Big Crown X1 Calculator Watch
Usually Oris "Big Crown" watches are rather retro. This one isn't as retro visually and feels like something a helicopter pilot would have worn during the Vietnam era, or even today. Though none of that is what the watch is based on - at least through name. Oris opted to dedicate this new watch to the famous Bell X-1 range of planes that were designed and flown simply to go fast.First flown in what I believe was the late 1940s, the X-1 was basically a flying bullet powered by a rocket engine. It was also the first plane to break the sound barrier and had a top speed of about Mach 1.1. They look a bit ahead of their time, like fighter planes from a 1960s era sci-fi flick. Especially because many of them were painted orange. Aside from feeling like something that would be at home in the cockpit of an X-1 plane, the only real nod to the X-1 are the "X" and "1" character done in relief on the chronograph pushers.Like any aspiring pilot's chronograph watch, the Oris Big Crown X-1 Calculator

A watch for an occasion!
To celebrate what I believe will be a promotion today I'm looking for a watch. I found a Maurice Lacroix PT 6068 and immediately fell in love with it. It had everything. GMT, Guilloche, Leather/bracelet, Exhibition case back with a cool design around the sapphire crystal, ETA movement and the works. I bid higher than I've ever bid on a watch before and lost by $5.00 this morning. I'm upset but it has me on a quest to mark this occasion with my nicest watch to date. I wanted to show the watch first because I absolutely love it.Maybe this picture is better:SoWhat do you think? I love it. I need one like it but I can't justify the purchase at retail and they don't come up on ebay all that often. Is there anything like it from a classy brand like ML? I was willing to spend $500 on this watch but lost it. I'm looking for modern and dress since I have some divers and vintage. Swiss movement is necessary, and I love exhibition case backs + guilloche!

Non Functional 6 O'Clock Subdial on a Chronograph
Yesterday my Canadian built, Chinese guts, very inexpensive chronograph watch took a nose dive. I went to set the time and pulled out the crown and lo and behold the crowd came right out of the watch. Obviously to repair this would be more dollars than I want to spend and finding a watch repairman to repair a Chinese What-ever Caliber is probably more difficult than finding Bin LadenI cannot take credit for that phrase as a Boston Celtic basketball player said that to a kid wanting an autograph (as in you will have an easier time finding Bin Laden than for me to give you an autograph). Long story short, I was kind of toying with the idea of maybe getting another chronograph and in my search I came across some inexpensive chronographs that had a working 3 O'Clock subdial (30 minute timer) and second hand time at the 9 O'Clock station but the 6 O'Clock subdial was described as following normal time and apparently not being a chrono timer but a subdial following the hour hand (if the h

32 degree watches
I just wanted to know if anyone here has had any wrist time with one of these? I just purchsed a 32 degree Crevasse. I will put pics up when I get it.:)
