I have been thinking about my next purchase for a while and out of a number of choices (JLC master calendar, Breguet black dial marine big date and Breguet Type XXI) I think I have decided upon the Breguet Type XXI. I have been offered a used, perfectly conditioned, recently serviced, two year warranty, full box and papers watch for 50% current retail. Looking on Chrono 24 I can only find one watch for this kind of price and every other at a much higher ticket.But what has really sold me is the amount of 'watch' you get for the money. It's a GMT, Chronograph, flyback, date, with three sub dials from one of the top 5 watchmakers in the world. All for about ¡ê4,000 (including 20% UK tax). Furthermore the watch is so much more stunning in the metal than in the photographs. Can anyone put me off buying a ridiculous 14th watch? (Picture below from the net).

I'm sorry to make two threads about incoming watches but this one generated quite a commotion and I wanted to make it its own thread so you could tell me more about it.This is my first bumper watch! It is so VERY cool. It is very heavy and crashes around. It makes me laugh and I love it.Here are pictures of the watch and more importantly the elusive movement inside. This might be one of the coolest watches I've ever owned in my life! I am shocked at how clean the watch and movement are!Its pretty skinny for weighing 9827lbs SmallBumper!475Some other numbers that might be importantI hope it was worth all the hype.

Updating some catalogs
I only posted men's models from many of the catalogs I posted last winter. Now that I've got Adobe Acrobat, I can open the pdf's of the catalogs and save the entire catalog to .jpg files. The process is alot easier and quicker now, so I'll be re-posting the complete catalogs into the original threads. Fans of the ladies models should be happy.

New versus Pre-owned
I thought I would try to summarise the key benefits and drawbacks of buying a new Patek (new from an AD) versus pre-owned. Obviously only in relation to references that are part of the current range.Benefits:-Price - a significant saving can be made by buying a pre-owned Patek from a private seller or unofficial dealer. This could be in excess of 30%.Availability - for those willing to pay a premium they can find references that are unavailable from AD's. The 5131 J or G is an example. Flexibility - it may be easier to part exchange or trade watches as part of a deal with an unofficial dealer.Service - there are many happy customers on this site that have purchased from one of the well known resellers who have delivered an exceptional level of customer service. Service now or wait?
Good morning TRF! The warranty on my GMT IIc is going to end in March of this year. There is nothing I've noticed wrong with the watch, keeps time just fine, and just a few signs of wear that I'd consider normal after almost 3 years. I'd appreciate some input/advice on sending it to RSC now to have it checked instead of waiting until it clearly needs service and the warranty is past. I agree that generally it's better not to open the case if it isn't needed, but eventually it will need service and it'll have to be opened. Another question on this if I do send it in. If there's nothing wrong mechanically will they do anything like polish or try to fix dings in the case/bracelet? There is one ding on the clasp I'd like to have fixed but I'd prefer it not be polished. I have the impression from past threads about getting work done at RSC that they will polish the watch even if asked not to, but I may be remembering this incorrectly. Thanks in advance. I've never sent a watch to RSC so thi
