What is it about Speedys?
I've had 4 speedmasters now.well 5 counting a replica. 2 Autos and 2 pro's. I buy one, then think it just looks like an older watch. The autos are too small and look like watches I owned when I was a kid. They have a plastic crystal (What is Hesalite?) and the ones I've had frankly keep ok time but compared to some autos and Quartz watches, fairly ordinary.....In fact the replica kept as good time and apart from the feel of the thing, really wasn't much different, well not $3000 bucks different anyways.Yet here I sit, looking for another one. I don't get it?

which one should I go with?

Powermatic 80 (ETA C07.111) Questions
Good day friends!I¡¯m intrigued by Tissot's (et al) relatively new Powermatic 80 movement. I¡¯m amazed by both the apparent accuracy and the power reserve available at such a low price point. I¡¯m giving serious consideration to purchasing one of the new Seastar watches with the red ceramic bezel.Tissot has stated repeatedly that the movement uses a new, high-tech, low friction escapement, but as far as I can tell they¡¯ve never said what it¡¯s made of. Silicon? Some kind of plastic? Have any of you horologic scholars seen any photos or write-ups that sheds light on question? How durable is it?Additionally, I¡¯ve tried without success to find information on the serviceability of the movement. I know Swatches Sistem51 is a ¡°throw away¡± movement and at it¡¯s given price, that¡¯s what I would expect. The Powermatic 80 is on a completely different level, but I want to make sure that it can be serviced when needed over the next 50 years!

Treated my Gondolo Calendario to a little present to celebrate its 7th birthday.The watch came fitted with the 18ct Patek pin-buckle as standard, which I have always felt was penny-pinching by PP. I quickly fitted the strap with a Hirsch gold-plated deployant buckle and wore it that way for seven years.On my last trip to London, I picked up a new 18ct yellow gold Patek Philippe deployant buckle to complete my watch. Wasn't cheap, but hey, good old Mastercard, and I think it was worth it!Before, with the Hirsch buckle fitted...and now...Now back on my wrist!MW
