Invicta 13886 wrist watches news:
Possibly one of the most unusual and unlikely timepieces in Longines’ very extensive heritage collection is this one: the Lindbergh Hour Angle, which is an almost exact replica of an historical timepiece made by Longines and distributed in the USA by Longines-Wittnauer, in 1930-31. Lindbergh designed the watch – whose features we’ll get into in depth in a minute – in order to ease a pretty challenging task. That task is figuring out where you are, which nowadays we take for granted; finding out your location, thanks to a global Internet and satellite network, has become a trivial thing. You probably have some general notion that navigation wasn’t exactly a walk in the park before GPS, and if you are into watches you’ve probably heard of a guy named John Harrison, who invented the first reliable marine chronometer all the way back in 1761. The problem with the Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch is that almost none of us seem to understand exactly how it
1. I was of the impression a chronometer was a watch with stop watch functions. It seems my impressions maybe incorrect. Please define "chronometer"2. How tight is too tight when tightening down the crown or a watch? Thanks in advance
Greetings Hamilton fans,I've lurked here for a while, and have finally joined up.I've collected several Hamiltons over the years, and this one has become a favorite. It's a Kirby with a 982 movement. It's at an excellent watchmaker for an overhaul and to have the hands re-plated. I'll post an "after" pic when I get it back. It's about 23mm wide, and 35mm from lug to lug. It's very small compared to most watches these days, but it doesn't look very tiny on the wrist.
To continue our tradition here, since it is Friday, please show us your best or favorite Hamilton:Here is mine today. . . the SWAT. . my first Hammie since this forum started. . .
I attended my first WIS GTG this evening and was shocked when John McGonigle turned up and showed off his stunning tourbillion. Apologies for the horrible iPhone pics, forgot to bring the camera Some amazing candy on the table, Zenith,Breguet,JLC,Omega,Rolex,Panerai, at a guess there was over 100 watches on show. And what would an Irish GTG be without an empty Guinness glass
