Archimede Outdoor watch
The newest watch from German Archimede is the Outdoor. It is an evolution on some past designs and fits a very specific purpose. To understand the Outdoor you need to look back to a watch that I believe was the thematic influence for the Outdoor, the Timex Camper. These are meant to be outdoors friendly timepieces that are easy to read and durable. They are not meant to be much more, and sit in a sort of functional minimalist category.Size is 38.5mm wide in nice looking lugless steel case. It is rather thin at just 10.6mm thick. The case and watch is meant to be light for a steel watch. According to Archimede, the watch is 120 grams on the metal bracelet, and 70 grams on the leather strap. This is for active people don't want a heavy watch and don't want to wear a plastic watch. In a nutshell, this is a German daily beater that won't complain when you beat it up.The case has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 200 meters. The black dial has white text for very high contrast. T

Omega 2538.20 Great White GMT
Can anyone tell me if Omega is discontinuing the their GMT watches.First it was the white dial in 2005 and now I hear the black dial is alsobeing discontinued. My AD does not have it in his 2009 catalogue. Does that mean that Omega will no longer have a GMT watch and a competitor to the Rolex Explorer? If so, a sad day indeed. I own a Great White and I guess it is now a collectors piece. I would appreciate any and all comments.

My Defective Boulton from Bluedail, update.
I just received an email from Tim, at Bluedail saying that Bluedial was replacing the movement in the Boulton that I received from them. He told me that it appeared that the case had been opened and that effectively "voided" the warranty but they were going to do this anyway. I did open the case to check the battery and so, let this be a warning. I guess that simple thing should not be done. But. in their behalf, they are honoring their grey market warranty. I replied to Tim and asked if in fact the movement that they were going to put back in the watch would be a Hamilton. In fairness to Tim at Bluedial, he has not had time to respond to this question at this writing. I did have an issue with Tim as I emailed him asking about my watch and after 24 hours of no response, emailed him again. He in essence told me there was no reason to email him every day. Not a good responce to a customer. But, it seems all is working to getting a working Boulton in my hands. If, they do as they say, and

Modest restoration of an old time favorite, The Seamaster
With Ruben's permission of course I'm posting these pics for your viewing pleasure. Who doesn't like a restoration? Well this is the Story. Ruben was looking for someone to restore his friends watch, and I contacted him to let him know that my partners and I are into restoring Omega cases. He sent me the watch and the rest follows as pics. Thanks Ruben! Omegas are fun and challenging to restore but when you do it right, the results are worth the hurdles. Maybe Ruben has a before pic. I only have a few disassembled before pics. This watch was also serviced and fitted with a new original crystal.
