This will be my last watch purchase of 2013..Honestly!Pics first and then a few words as to why I bought it:Now I have looked at this watch before on photographs and didn't like four things on first inspection.1) The lugs (there is a version with tradition lug attachments I believe, which at first I thought I preferred)2) The Arabic numeral version3) The red number 12 on the Arabic numeral version4) The way the numbers were crowded out by the sub dials on the Arabic numeral versionSo why have I bought a version of this watch - The Longines Column-Wheel Single Push-Piece Chronograph 180th Anniversary Limited Edition?Firstly I bought the version with the Roman numerals as opposed to the Arabic markers and I didn't have the same impression about the dial, the looks or the crowding. A Fish Can't Give You Love -or- Trade Explorer for Submariner
My ex-wife wanted a cat. I told her we can get a fish. She said A Fish Can't Give You Love.I'm starting to feel the same way about my 214270, now that I've had my Omega Speedmaster for a bit. I like actually interacting with my Speedy. I like to wind it. I like to use the Chrono - and I use it more than I ever imagined I would. And I enjoy looking at it.But looking at it is all I can do with my 214270, and that's all the love we'll ever have. Is the Explorer my fish that I like to look at, but it can't give me love back? It can't respond to me like a Chronograph or Diver's Bezel. If I had a Submariner, I could engage it to measure elapsed time. And I would also enjoy looking at it. Another Rolex option, I could engage the GMT, but I really don't need GMT - I don't mindf*ck myself when I'm in a different timezone. And I don't need to check time at the home office back East.
