18K rose gold question
Hi, I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but i just ordered my 2nd breitling, this one a tt 2008 model cockpit rose gold. I did search here on the forum and read a few posts about 'rolled gold " on bracelets. Guess my question is , did breitling change that procedure at any time, or will my new bracelet be rolled rose gold or solid 18k rose gold ( center links ). I'm a little confused, because i also read on other articles the mentioning of 18k gold and steel bracelet when describing a watch like mine. Thanks , T.

Popular 1950s"budget", drug store and entry-level watches?
Setting my focus on 1950s watches for the time being (mainly so I don't go OCD crazy trying to buy one of everything ever produced in every time period lol!)I was just curious, besides the obvious Timex, what other brands were the big players in terms of budget and entry level watches in the early to mid 1950s? I know some of the big names had specific lines focused on entry level models like Hamiltons "Illinois" line from 53-55, Elgins Wadsworth, etc, but what about the brands beneath even those? I know of a few names like Westclox, Hallmark, Oris etc, but what are some of the other really common ones that might have been seen on many wrists back then? What was the equivalent of today's Fossils and Casios? As popular as Hamilton, Bulova and Elgins main models are in the collecting world today, not everyone in 1952 had today's equivalent of close to a grand to spend on a watch. Oysterquartz stopped running
My 17000 oysterquartz with serial from 1999 just died on me.Before it died it was running quite badly at 2 seconds per week.I sent it to Rolex and got quote back $1,400.They say it needs full service and circuit replacement.Circuit alone is around $600.Bought it for just over $2,800. Should i get it fixed?Love the watch, but does servicing that cost half the cost of the whole watch make sense?
