It's always exciting to find a deal on a watch, and I think we've struck upon a particularly good one. You've likely never heard of Maranez watches before, neither had we until a week or so ago, but we quickly realized that this was a brand worth taking a closer look at. Their website is sparse, and doesn't reveal a whole lot about the brand. Just pictures of the watches they sell and some basic relevant details. Initially, it might not garner much trust, but one glance at the watches and you'll likely think "those are pretty nice looking"¡­and then you’ll see the prices and say "holy #$!*@". Well, Maranez was kind enough to send over a couple of models for us to play with and see if they were worth the low prices they set, or perhaps much more.Maranez is based in Thailand and seems to be a very small operation, as these boutique brands tend to be. The watches are manufactured in China, and though I can't confirm it, I suspect they are made in the same facilities as Benarus, Armid

In the past 5 years, the world economic situation is not good, American financial crisis, European debt crisis. In the past 30 years, the economic in China is always keeping high speed increase. More and more people became rich man in China, so we find many Chinese go to abroad and to buy luxury. In the same time, many well know brands also opened stores in China in the past years, and they really got plenty of profit. Last year, there was a serious traffic accident happened in Shanxi province because of heavy fog, dozens of people were killed or injured. Several government officers and polices went to the accident place, reporters also arrived. But a advanced officer folded his two arms and smiling. Compare to the bodies with blood, this smile photo Provoked public outrage, and a shinning gold watch dressed on his wrist. Angry people searched form internet of this officer, and found he dressed many different famous brand watches in different places, such as several AP, VC, Rado etc. I

Where it all started...
Back in 1981, this Seiko was on my father's wrist daily. I remember gawking over the design and look.While at dinner a little while back, I noticed my father wearing it. I told him how much I liked the watch and showed him my AP. (He's not much of a watch guy, but I could see how he appreciated the AP). After I explained to my wife the history with that watch, my father took it off his wrist and gave it to me.Gonna give it a little tlc and enjoy it. It's got a permanent spot in my collection.

So my wife comes up with this great idea.......
My wife and I will have 2 kids in college come August. This is about to get a little tough. So, we've been discussing ways to cut back a fair amount to prepare. I was thinking cancelling a couple of unused gym memberships or dropping Netflix. She, however, had another plan(s).1) Sell a couple of those expensive watches I never wear. She referring to a Speedmaster, Milgauss, and my white Daytona C. She then says those 3 combined should be around 10k. YEAH RIGHT!!!! I could go ahead and keep my GMT bc it an all around watch.2) Sell my Porsche Boxster and just keep my Tundra OR trade in both for a nice SUV maybe an Grand Cherokee or something.I looked at her a moment and realized she was actually serious. I then had two options- committ her to an insane asylum OR explain to her that her brain storming session was not going in the right direction and that some student loan debt might build some character (just kiddin, kinda) Just had to share this humorous moment with my TRF bros....
