Longines L5.155.4.16.6 wrist watches news:
Christie’s Americana Week sale takes place January 21-25 at Rockefeller Plaza in New York. The sale includes a unique watch key owned by Thomas Jefferson. The key contains a lock of his wife’s hair and is inscribed “Martha W. Jefferson Born 19 Oct. 1748, Died 6 Sept. 1782.” Jefferson, who never remarried, pledged to always remember his wife. It is believed that Jefferson commissioned this watch key as a means of fulfilling that promise. Jefferson is known to have had a penchant for watches. Christie’s cites Silvio A. Bedini, “Thomas Jefferson, Clock Designer,” Proceedings of the American Philosophical Society, who wrote “Probably more than any other of the notable American statesmen, Jefferson had a special interest in timepieces.” Christie’s also notes that Jefferson intended for each of his grandchildren to inherit a gold watch, indicating that he considered these personal timepieces ideal for remembering loved ones. I'm going to buy a new watch and I'm pretty sure that it will be a mechanical Hamilton. The fact is that there are a lot of them which seems really similar, but I really don't know which is the best, if there's one (maybe it's a personal taste only, but there could be also technical aspects which I ignore!).I really love the QNE (H76515533), cause the aviation design makes me fall in love.hamiltonwatch/webapp/...=ka&y=12&p=117but it's really out of budget for me.So I'm searching for a "lower" model with a neat design and a medium-big sized bezel. The hand-winding ones meet my taste. I think that the field mechanical officer (H69619533) is really a beautiful piece:hamiltonwatch/webapp/...=KA&y=22&p=197but I've heard somewhere out there that the mechanical hand-winding system is more fragile than an automatic unit. Maybe someone of you experts can confirm this rumor or not.Alternatively to this, I would choose automatic versions of king or field, which cost less but are l
Looks like the big watch manufacture like JLC, IWC, Panerai, Omega heard about the we had 2 weeks ago here at WTF. Right now to buy luxury watches online can only be done thru a grey dealer. Most watch AD do not advertise on the internet. Thats changing soon.I found this article today about Richemont Ltd and Swatch Group to acquire Top Level Internet Domain names. Names like buy.omega, shop.panerai, etc...................Yes, looks like they are finally coming online.Muttley, check this out!!P.S Thanks to Ulackfocus link I found this.Special Report: Richemont, Swatch To Acquire Top Level Internet Domains | Perpetuelle
I am interested in purchasing a RO Chrono rose gold (white dial). The current msrp is $54,900. I read that this watch was previously more expensive but AP lowered the price in 2013. Does anyone know what this watch retailed for prior to the price drop? Thank you!
I was able to try on a ss 5712 at my AD today, and was a bit surprised by the dial color. To me, it looked more like slate grey than the blue I had remembered from trying on a 5711 some time back. On patek's website, both the 5711 and 5712 are listed as black-blue dials, but is it possible they are different? Maybe just the dial layout make the shades appear different? Maybe the lighting in the shop (I've never tried on a 5711 and 5712 in the same location)?
