Why some people adore PP watches and others could care less....or a peak inside of the soul of one hopeless Patek Philippe fan.I know that this is more-less a philosophical question, but I'm still curious as to what others think.What is such a big deal about Patek Philippe ??Often we hear:- timeless design- remarkable history and quality- brings premium at auctions - great looking, yet understated...only those who 'know' - 'know'- etc....On the other side we hear:1) - way too expensive (...for what could be sometime just a manual 'time only' watch)2) - too fragile....."I 'don’t want to 'worry' about my watch when I wear it"3) - their design is not my 'cup of tea'...looks like a watch my grandpa should wear.4) - "I am sick of the current market situation. AD's have only Calatrava models and if I want a desired model I have to pay premium on the gray market.Over close to a decade of my watch 'collecting' and over two decadesof watch obsession I actually went myself through some of

Hi All,Thanks in advance for any help.I received a Pocket Watch as a gift about 20 years ago, (from an Ex), and am considering selling it. (My current Wife doesn't much appreciate it being around :).But, I can't find much on the watch to identify it.With a magnifying glass, on the watch face, I see:- At the top middle - "Eagle Star"Then slightly below that - "Geneve"And at the bottom of the watch face "Swiss Made", but that's all I can see.My Ex "told me" that it was gold, and reasonably valuable, but, that's all I've been able to find out. I searched the net to try to find out about it, but no luck. (can't even find a similar watch).I've posted pictures to help.Thanks again for any advice.
