Longines Longines 51133 wrist watches news:
We recently had an opportunity to do an interview with Oliver Ike, the man behind the Ikepod, as well as the resurrection of the A. Manzoni & Fils brand which is among the highest-end watches being funded on Kickstarter. Oliver's watches have become instantly recognizable, and he looks to be shaking things up a bit in the luxury watch industry with his new launch. In the interview, we cover a variety of topics, including how Ikepod came to be, what Oliver has done since Ikepod, and insights into his new?A. Manzoni & Fils Canopus Planner watch.watches-dealer (ABTW): Even if everyone doesn't know Ikepod by name, they instantly recognize the designs, and can appreciate their unique and sophisticated looks. How did they come to fruition?Oliver Ike (OI): I discovered the POD style of the Australian designer Marc Newson when I was working during my studies in the design furniture market. Nobody knew him, not even in the design trade in Europe. I saw the first publication of his work
First I want to say that these watches were sort of commissioned by the members of KISS. Yvan Arpa of Artya was contacted by Gene Simmons who said that he liked his work and wanted to have Artya make special watches for KISS. So Arpa flew out to LA to spend time with the band members, talk watches, and voila! Artya watches uniquely made for KISS (and available as piece unique models for you).I would really like to know more about what Yvan Arpa did with Gene Simmons for a week. I tried to ask him but didn't get much information. Apparently they liked the result. Right now there are three watches. Each are in 47mm wide Artya "deconstructed" cases. The first one features Gene Simmons, then another with Paul Stanley, and the last one has a KISS guitar pick and guitar string in the dial - that were actually used by Paul Stanley. Interesting use of a guitar pick in a watch I must say. These look a bit spooky and surrealwhich is probably exactly what the KISS folk wanted. While it is unclear
Is it possible to change the rubber strap on the watch for an aftermarket kevlar or carbon fiber? Thanks
I've been looking at RGM watches lately and I'm very impressed, especially the Professional Diver of course.Check em out:rgmwatches/rgmgr.html
Wanted to run an observation by the group here. I've been a fan on the Brand and the quality of the watches and movement finishing for a while but something is keeping me away. I've started to notice younger and younger aged gentlemen wearing APs. Mostly Rubber Clad/Offshore and few Royal Oaks. The marketing too has gone heavy on sports, and social media. Also seeing virtually no adverts or launches for the non Royal Oak line or dress watches which is a shame. Has AP changed things around when it comes to the target audience? It's a superb brand and watch maker, but it feels like more a fashion icon/status symbol in last few months to years.
