Mystery Tiffany & Co. Diving Watch Is Rare Treat: Partnership With NauticFish, Enza Mechana?
Here is something you don't see everyday. A rare Tiffany & Co. watch that I just can't seem to figure out. I learned of this watch as it is being offered on eBay right now with no end date until someone purchases it. The seller claims that it is a Tiffany & Co. watch built by NauticFish, and I am not sure this is correct. It is true that Tiffany & Co. often rebrands or adds its name to other popular watches sold in its store. It used to do this with Rolex, and currently does with a variety of brands including Baume et Mercier. Further, Tiffany & Co. often outsources watch design, just as it did with the popular Streamerica watch (no longer being made) designed by Jorg Hysek.Therefore, it is plausible that Tiffany & Co. worked with NauticFish or Enzo Mechana, but it is doubtful in this case. 1956 Hamilton K-407
Appreciate some input from vintage Hamilton aficionados.Uncovered this watch model over the past weekend. It is an automatic Swiss 661 movement housed in a 10K gold filled case. While I understand that Hamilton's 'golden era' was around 1924-the WWII timeframe, this mid-1950s model is kind of interesting. The crown is very diminutive and when recessed, the watch almost looks like an old Accutron from a distance. When shaken, it still runs but I have no idea of its timekeeping accuracy to date. The watch came with a faux-alligator Kreisler leather strap which is kind of moldy and needs replacement. Being a 1950s era timepiece, the watch is somewhat smaller in diameter than today's larger offerings. I would like to get it serviced and rejuvenated as part of an ongoing collection/accumulation of older watches. A special one for my 5000th post!
I've been planning this for a while and actually had to refrain from posting for the last couple of weeks, so I wouldn't go over the mark After spending years with the sports models exclusively, this one feels... special. That is the first word which came to my mind when putting it on for the first time. It gives off a very distinct feeling from, say, a 619 - which is amazing in a different kind of way, as the 619 is robust and sporty to the core. This one feels like it would also take anything you can throw at it, but with an elegance that few others possess.As for the 5k posts, my sincere thanks to the TRF family - Steve, moderators, forum sponsors and, especially, all the friends that I have had the privilege to make over the years. This is a truly unique community.
