Maurice Lacroix LC1026-SD502-170 wrist watches news:
Hello Watch Talk! This is my first post and I hope its not a too-broad or annoying subject. I've only owned quartz watches and digitals in my life: A Swiss Army Victorinox officers that lasted 12 years and now has, according to the watchmaker, a short circuit or something as it drains a new battery in a week. A Swatch chronograph which runs fine but I don't really like. Several timexes, one which is 15 years old and still going strong. My latest acquisition is a 1997 stainless steel round face Cartier from my father, he passed away last week. It is a beautiful piece but I wouldn't want to wear it so much for fear of losing it. Basically I want to switch to automatic, I know they lose more time than quartz and recquire more maintenance, but as everyone else I appreciate the mechanical wonder that is an automatic. I'm looking for the most robust, well made, least maintenance required, most accurate automatic that isn't the size of a discman. I don't care if its vintage or new, just that i
Good day friends!I¡¯m intrigued by Tissot's (et al) relatively new Powermatic 80 movement. I¡¯m amazed by both the apparent accuracy and the power reserve available at such a low price point. I¡¯m giving serious consideration to purchasing one of the new Seastar watches with the red ceramic bezel.Tissot has stated repeatedly that the movement uses a new, high-tech, low friction escapement, but as far as I can tell they¡¯ve never said what it¡¯s made of. Silicon? Some kind of plastic? Have any of you horologic scholars seen any photos or write-ups that sheds light on question? How durable is it?Additionally, I¡¯ve tried without success to find information on the serviceability of the movement. I know Swatches Sistem51 is a ¡°throw away¡± movement and at it¡¯s given price, that¡¯s what I would expect. The Powermatic 80 is on a completely different level, but I want to make sure that it can be serviced when needed over the next 50 years!
This is being sold from a woman who used to sell watches on eBay and knew I was looking for an old Patek, that is affordable. She said she paid $6,000 for this from Ukraine but is willing to sell to me for $2900. What do you think? Hard to fake a vintage Patek? I will get right to the point here. I am a large collector and I have always disliked-hated Panerai watches. I have everything besides Panerai. They always seemed overpriced and plain. What changed? Why do I want it so bad?I think after having all the others my addiction is in full force. There is something about the brown strap and the tobacco dial that screams to me and forces me to withdraw money from my account. I have news for you folks I bought one and the postman is going to be here by 3pm! I am fired up to get this piece!!! This morning my wife said to me Why do you have that stupid grin on your face? What did you buy now? I've never seen that grin-smirk that big before She's about to find out what that smirk is all about in just a few hours here!!
I have a 116610LVc and plan to add a 116655 to complete my two Rolex collection. I've searched and searched the web for a photo of the two together, such as in a watch winder or storage box, but haven't been able to find such. I've seen the two together in a larger collection of watches, but not just a photo of the two by themselves.Does anyone here own the two? Can you post some photos? I would would much obliged to you.
