As we know the forthcoming games in Beijing have attracted much controversy as preparations for the opening ceremony draw near. The political ills of the PRC cannot be resolved over a short space of time nor would a stand off yield a desirable resolution since it is the spirit of The Games which would suffer and as John said in a debate on WTF last year that the people of China would lose the opportunity to see what freedom and democracy look like. While we can be assured that the goverment of the host nation would make as much political capital out of The Games, the longer term solution lies not in demanding that sponsors renege on their agreements and ties with the Olympic movement but in a gradual change that can only be brought about by ¡° winning friends and influencing people ¡± much as this seems a slower process. For whatever reasons may lie in the choice of a particular host nation for these Games, it should not detract from the work that goes in to reflect excellence in achie

Best for under $300; Besides the OM
I know I'll be pointed in the direction of the OM. Don't get me wrong, I love the watch. However, I'm looking for something that is a bit more dressy. Unless, of course, you all think the OM/BM could pass as a dress watch if i managed to get a leather strap for it. I'm always down for used too. It needs to be an automatic. Love the simple looks of Nomos. Currently I'm on the B-uhr/pilot kick. Being a decent pilot is around $500 min, I don't currently have the money to swing one. I love german stuff, too. I've searched and searched, but am in need of a bit of direction. I know Germany watches tend to be on the pricey side, so I understand it may not be the most realistic option in my price range. Without further ado....

Looking for my 1st SMP300 - which will you pick?
Thinking of adding this iconic Omega to my collection. Never really been a Omega dive watch fan but the PO8500 and SMP300 slowly winning me over...Now it is either the wave dial with AL bezel insert or the ink blue dial with ceramic bezel insert. Both running on the 2500 caliber.The older model has a white date wheel and the newer one shows a black date wheel.The blue is the new model is richer and the blue in the old model a little subdued.Dimensions remain similar.
