Maurice Lacroix mp6508-ss001-130 wrist watches news:
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch". In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're talking with a man who got his start restoring vintage chronographs, and is now ?the Creative Director of Ernst Benz - Leonid Khankin.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry? Leonid Khankin (LK): I am the Creative & Managing Director of Ernst Benz. I am also a second generation watchmaker who grew up doing restoration, specializing in chronographs and complications. It was always my aspiration to build watches which came true when I took the helm of Ernst Benz. Now I live my watch making and creative dream building watches with my friends and have the privilege to present them in some of the most amazing stores in the world.ABTW: What was your first grail watch?LK: I was always captivated by and very passionate about chronographs and cale
I plan to buy the Omega Speedmaster Day-Date 3221.30.00. My AD can¡ät show me a white/silder dial model and so he ordered one for me but I have to wait for two months.I found some pictures for imagination but please show me yours too. Thank you!
One of the vintage models I have long coveted is the Bradford model that was first introduced in 1954 (if memory serves me) and seems to have been produced for a number of years thereafter. After a few years the name was changed to Bradford "B." Based on the old catalogs and what I have seen online the Bradfords were Masterpiece models with solid 14K cases and Hamilton's superb 22 jewel 770 movement. They seem to have been quite popular as award/retirement gifts during the late 50s and early 60s. Recently I have seen a couple Bradfords with a 17 jewel 747 movement. Are these some kind of frankenwatch or are they legit? Currently there is one on the infamous auction site with this configuration, but it seems weird considering that it has a diamond dial (standard movement with solid gold case and diamonds?). This one is priced too high IMO, but I am curious as to what is correct because when I do eventually buy one I want to make sure all is well. Thank you in advance!
Sorry, it's not a watch but these cool Orbita Sparta Winders with guaranteed5 year lithium batteries. I already own 3 Orbita Spartas that are powered viaAC/DC adapter and I could not be happier. I love their patent that simulatesnatural wearing of the watch. As such these winders do not rotate, but swinggently - just like you would wear the watch. AND - they are virtually silent evenwhen one of them was sitting about just 1 foot from my head - on my night stand !This setup works great if you do not have enough space for some large4 or 6 piece winder box, or...as you can see, this is a perfect setup for my built in safe.I had a great experience with the 3 single Sparta winders that were poweredfrom an electric plug. I do not expect anything else from these three 'wireless' - 5 yr. lithiumbatteries powered pieces. I will post a report and evaluation after a few weeks of use.Thank you guys at Orbita for supporting our forum and thank you for offering us such great bargains for these test
Question related to service...After several years of heavy use, my old man is giving me his Panerai 299. While generally in good shape, the crown guard is pretty loose and jiggles around. Certainly not useful any more in preventing ingress of water. Is there a way to tighten it myself using inexpensive tools I can buy online, or would you recommend bringing it in to an AD for service/sending it to Panerai. All else being equal or nearly equal, I'd prefer the lowest-cost option. Thanks!
