The?Fr¨¦d¨¦ric Jouvenot S?n watch enters that extremely limited?group of independent timepieces that?try and find?new ways to?animate and display astronomical indications. To do that, it takes inspiration from none less than S?n,?the Mesopotamian god of the moon. Let's take a look at?some of the key details of this unusual piece, which will debut at?Baselworld 2015.The centerpiece of the S?n, without a doubt, has to be its highly unusual?sun-moon display. What we're looking at here is effectively a 3D day/night indicator ¨C to get a better idea on how it works, ?check out the video above and?see it in action. The passing time is?recorded by centrally-mounted hands (the hour hand is referred to as "eccentric" as it appears to float above a silver colored ring surrounding?the minute hand). The center has a small minute display while the hours are indicated at a somewhat larger scale with a dew drop shaped hand. The dial also offers the day-night indication, meaning that the transit of the su

I've noticed very little activity for the winder forum lately. Is everyone just bored with their winders, or not using them much, or just satisfied with what they have? I find winders darn right interesting and enjoy watching them work. I have three single winders (Orbita, Wolf, and Steinhausen) and may purchase a Orbita Voyager as a fourth. My Orbita Sparta Telsa winder (with its rocking motion) is cool, but doesn't fully wind my watches that need only clockwise movement (Tags). It does great for my Baume & Mercier Hampton. How can we generate more interest here?Bruce
from europastar.com:Carl F. Bucherer: making its own June 13, 2008 By Keith W. Strandberg The big news for Carl F. Bucherer is its new in-house movement, which has been in development for several years. President Thomas Morf saw the writing on the wall when movements started becoming harder and harder to get, so the company bit the bullet and bought movement specialist THA (in St. Croix, Switzerland) on July 1, 2007, renaming the company Carl F. Bucherer Technologies."The main focus for us in BaselWorld is the new movement which we are going to show for the first time," says Morf. "It is an automatic movement with a big date. This is the movement that we are doing in our new factory. We don't have a specific model around it, because we want the movement to be the king at the BaselWorld Fair. We will have production as of September/October and we will gradually increase the numbers."THA had long been a supplier to the watch industry, making complications, modules, one-off pieces (jewell
I was observing a certain channel online where the president of the watch company was stating the watch being discussed case was cut from a solid ingot of stainless steel. My impression of lower cost watches that they were cast cases, not machined from a block of solid stainless.I'm skeptical.
