There are 2 6497-1 mvts available for the same price from a US supplier. One has a plain finish, the other has hammered finish. The one with the hammered finish has a different balance wheel. The watch I'm thinking of using this in will not have a display back, but is the balance on the hammered-finish mvt better in any way?Are better grades of the 6497 available? Thanks!SA
I recently acquired an Omega 2077-2 mfg. in 1939. Upon looking a schematic of the watch movement there are a couple of levers missing and the chronograph buttons are also missing. Also need hands for this watch. Anyone know where I can get the parts to repair this watch? Thanks for the help. I am newly registered with this forum.
Hey everyone... the recent uptick of posts on the 5164 and 5712 (not to mention the incomings) had me zeroed in on one of the two as my next timepiece. I thought the 5164 would be a great travel companion (live in Tokyo, office in SoCal) and a good stable-mate to my 5146g. I have tried on the 5164 multiple times but never seen a 5712 in the metal. There was just something about the 5712 that I loved. Imagine my surprise when I happened on the AD in SLC last week and they had both available. My head told me that the 5164 should be the next acquisition ... Much more utilitarian with my line of work. But my heart fell for the 5712 - I was always intrigued with the design, but seeing it in the metal was even better. Couldn't afford both - dratt ! - so slept on it a night and decided ... to go ... with my ... HeartNot an ounce of regret - love, love, love the 5712!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
