Vintage watch friends, your moderator, RJ007 kindly sent me a PM yesterday and warmly welcomed me to post some of my vintage pocketwatch collection here in the American Forum on WTF. While I have been a member of WTF since last May, 2009, my participation has been very limited, I have been reading posts much more than contributing. As to my watch collections, I own 92 wristwatches, watches from some very fine Swiss watch brands represented separately here on WTF, and my vintage pocketwatch collection consists of 57 beautiful, pristine PWs (all 57 PWs are in good running order and keep acceptable time). I have been collecting PWs for over 30 years and have researched all watches in my collection thoroughly, knowing the histories of their manufacturers, as well as information pertinent to each watch. My vintage watch collection consists only of PWs, I own no vintage wristwatches, save for a 40 year old Rolex (that I wore exclusively for nearly 30 years --- it still runs beautifully, look

What Gives???
Okay, strange thing...My new (to me) 1976 Accutron keeps perfect time, and I mean, I hacked it and set it to the second of the clock on my phone, and after several days of wearing it, it's darn near perfect almost to the second. BUT, when I take it off at night, the next morning it seems as if it's run a little fast...Anywhere from 3-5 minutes. What the heck?!

The scammer stole photos from an eBay listing:RARE 1969 First Generation Omega Post Moon Professional Speedmaster Chronograph and used them on Omega Forums to try to bilk 3 members of over $3000. Accuracy of Timex Automatic
About a week ago, I purchased a new Timex T2D951 automatic watch.According to the Timex website, the suggested retail price is $145, but the store had marked it down to $50. After playing with it for a week, I've noticed that it gains anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute each day. I understand that no automatic watch keeps perfect time and that my new Timex is no chronometer, but this seems a little excessive. Is this part of the normal settling-in period, a defective watch, or just the usual accuracy of an automatic in this price range? If it's the last, I suppose I had best go back to quartz watches, since I'd prefer a watch that's at least accurate to about a minute a week without spending a ton of money. Thanks in advance.
