Omega Constellation

New member/ new watch.
Hello everyone. I've been researching watches for a while now (rolex vs omega, of course). Finally got one.. I almost went with rolex, but decided i was only buying rolex bc it was a rolex, not bc i actually liked it. And didn't really want to appear anymore pompous than I already am. Another consideration was price, this watch ran nearly 7K, perhaps a rolex would have been a better "investment"anyway, this is a seamster PO with a rubber strap. 45.5.. 8500 movement. Gruen Strap 88
Gruen Strap 88 (a world beyond Elgin)Introduced in the mid 1920s, the Strap 88 was a cut corner, fully engraved bezel.The case is a Fahys 3 piece, 14kt Gold filled.The Guild movement is 15 jewel . and its believed that was supplied by Fontainemelon Freres(FHF) The watch featured in the the1929 Gruen Guild Book and SupplementAccording to Bruce Shawkeys Gruens Collectors Guide(out of print), there were several models in this range.A Strap 87, with a plain bezel, a Strap 94, which is similar to the Strap 88, but in Green Gold, which I have never seen, so the Case and movement makers, are presently not know, Anybody out there help?A later Strap 219 fitted with a Guild 705 movement, again never seen one, may not be cased in a Fahy, as the company closed in 1931, and this Strap 219 maybe a little later!B

I LOVE my new Panerai but....
Is it possible I'm wearing it too much? I don't take off my watch unless the strap is going to get wet. My other watches don't get any wrist time anymore. I'm planning on putting the rubber strap on my Base and wearing it all summer. Am I crazy or is this normal paneristi behaviour? Does anyone actually swim with these dive watches or are they just for show? This is my most expensive watch but I don't want to keep it in a safe and of course I don't want to damage it. Any feedback would be great! Thanks, Paul

Which Diver? Omega SMP or PO? or Brietling SO Steelfish?
Hi guys,I'm buying a new diver to compliment my JLC RDM.I have 3 in mind but can't make up my mind1/ New black Omega SMP as seen at Basel (41mm - if it ever comes out without the "Bond" logos) This was my initial choice but it's looking unlikely to be released without the Bond stuff within a time frame that suits me.2/ Omega PO (42mm Black bezel with either white or orange markers)3/ Brietling Super Ocean Steel Fish (newer 44mm version with black dial)All on a bracelet.What's your thoughts on these watches and how do they compare for build quality/ruggedness, accuracy, value/bang for buck and reliability etc.The Brietling would work out cheaper, followed by the SMP then the PO.I don't have large wrists and usually tend towards 42mm as a max I can get away with, however I have tried on the Brietling and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.Opinions & pics always welcomeMac. Grail Arrival
5980/1A (to cut to the chase!)After 30 years of collecting, and several years of lusting, I am left with two watches that belonged to each of my Grandfathers, one that belonged to the priest that married my wife and I, a 40th birthday present from my wife, and finally this:This is the ONE. I will probably rotate 3 of the other 4 watches on rare occasions (the 32mm Elgin military doesn't keep good time). But with these exceptions, this will be my daily, my week-ended, my dress-up, my dress-down...you get the idea!The Aquanaut and Calatrava (and most of what little watch fund cash I had) have been traded for my dream watch. Lots of Rolexes have come and gone, none remain. Omegas and (don't judge!) Wittnauers too (vintage Wittnauer is my favorite budget Swiss watch when I go through that phase).Hard to believe I finally made my goal. For a guy who constantly ribs other members about what's next, it's odd to feel there is no next. A temporary situation to be sure!Thanks to all for letting
