First Look: Five Unexpected Vintage Lots From The Upcoming Watches Of Knightsbridge Auction
It's always exciting to flip thought the pages of a fresh auction catalog. So we were thrilled to discover the lots from this week's Watches of Knightsbridge auction. There are showstoppers of course, such as a big crown Submariner and an early Speedmaster CK2998. But we think we found a couple of sleepers as well. So we picked five and went to try them on. Chronographs are well represented, with an understated but handsome Omega DeVille and a colorful Tudor Monte Carlo, while an early diver from Longines and a rare Rolex Datejust also make our list. Omega DeVille Chronograph Reference 145.017, With Slate Grey Dial 1 OF 13 It's not a Speedmaster, and that's okay. This vintage De Ville was introduced in 1968, with the lever-and-cam caliber 860. This De Ville has a rare slate-grey dial, which is perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of the watch. My Panerai is back!Picked it up from service a week ago. Movement got taken apart and put back together. Will get it polished next time. This is the watch that survived an 8ft fall down the stairs. Just happy to have the 320 back on my wrist!

Not sure how many folks here are on it, but I have found typing a reference in will give you hundreds of high quality photos. I prefer it to Google images. Most are taken with a newer cell phone so the resolution isn't as good as a high quality digital but a lot better than what I have found searching Google. Happy Holidays all,I'm close to taking the plunge on my first AP - the Diver in steel. But two other contenders jumped into consideration. Disregarding the rest of my collection, as a watch in of itself, which of the three do you recommend. All are similar prices.1. AP Diver Steel 2. Vacheron Overseas Automatic White Dial3. Vacheron Overseas Dual Time Grey Titanium with leather strapMy thinking so far:AP Diver: Big chunk of steel. Classic Royal Oak looks only blown up. Durable and chunky strap. Wore large on me - almost like a 45 or 46mm. Heard it's a scratch magnet.VC Automatic White on Bracelet: Beautiful Giiulloche dial. Pretty good water resistance and comfortable bracelet. Doubles up a bit on my white nautilus (5726) . And very shiny, much more than I thought. VC Overseas Dual Time (AKA: Deep Strem) : More subdued than the white dial and more scratch resistant bezel. Beautiful strap integration. Wears smaller than the AP but not too small. Excellent dial confi
