Introducing The Blancpain Villeret Grand Date, A Favorite Upgrades To Two Windows
If one thing is certain about SIHH, it’s that it foreshadows Basel. And storming out of the gate for Pre-Basel 2015 is Blancpain’s new Villeret Grand Date. This watch is notable for a few reasons. There is a clever simplicity in applying the Aqualung’s (spotted here on Vladimir Putin’s wrist) signature date window to the Villeret. But, regardless of how clever and simple it may seem, applying such a window has the potential to go horribly wrong. Thankfully, Blancpain seems to have gotten it right.Earlier in the year, we celebrated Blancpain’s New NYC Boutique. In said article you’ll find a wristshot of the current Villeret with the date at 3 o’clock. While that design works, the Grand Date at 6 o’clock takes the design in a different direction. Very early Gruen wristwatch...
recently back from the doctor...is c.1910 with a so-called Louis XIV dial. The Watch Specialties movement is stamped with the D.G & S logo for D. Gruen & Sons...according to the Gruen history website, Watch Specialties was a Gruen subsidiary that made their movements prior to Gruen's Guild movements. The Gruen sterling case measures 25.5mm with the movement oriented like a pocket watch with the 12 o'clock hour at the 3 o'clock position...

Need help identifing a vintage Omega
What I do know is that this watch is from the 60's, has a double chronograph (two chrono hands?). Someone told me it might be model 176.0012.Also, if anyone would know its worth - it would really mean a lot to me. (Works perfectly, with the original bracelet, day/date, etc).Thank you!

Finally joined the club!!
What a strange afternoon that was!!Took the wife to Have a look at the Rolex ive been banging on about for the past few months. We went to a local AD and when we walked in we were treated by a band playing German music, a hotdog stand cooking bratwurst sausages!!I was offered a German beer and the wife had a large glass of Champaign! They were celebrating a 50th anniversary of the shop being open.I said I wasn't going to buy new and look for a good second hand one. But trying to find one in the right colour combination was difficult. I tried the black SS datejust 41 on and fell in love straight away!!So I got the wife drunk on Champaign and persuaded her into letting me buy it!!What a great day and experience the whole day was.The girl that served me was lovely and made the whole experience fantastic. Happy New year to everyone
