Omega Omega 9894 wrist watches news:
Klaus Ulbrich of Temption watches in Germany is moving on up, Stuttgart Style. This lovely little watch maker's new villa could be right out of Santa Monica, CA circa 1987. New digs for Temption likely mean more employees, higher production, and more watches, all good things from a company that consistently keeps providing up good looking, quality watches at prices which don't make me balk, given what you get. Lets take a little tour of the new space where you can go see their in-house show room, and view watch makers hard at work on the wonderful watches. The outside of the manufacture look like a California day spa (maybe gym, or perhaps real estate office) from the late eighties. Visitors will be happy to know that satellite TV is standard, either for the watch makers or for your viewing pleasure while Klaus himself polishes your new Temption watch to a glowing finish. Pinkish stucco and lots of glass complete the theme of "high-end, high quality German watch" right? Curiously enough
It's sort of a general rule of thumb that mechanical complications increase the price of a watch. If you look at a brand's catalog, their chronographs, GMTs, perpetual calendars, etc¡ (should they have them in the first place) cost more than simpler 3-hand models, and understandably so. As the name implies, complications increase the complexity of the movement, which, generally speaking, increases the amount of parts, labor and skill required to make the movement and thusly increases the cost. So, when you're perusing the internet or a local shop and you come across an automatic GMT with a power reserve and decentralized date by a reputable brand, you're likely looking at something that costs at least $1,000, more likely much more. Well, Orient once again defies pricing logic with their CDH00001B ¨C Explorer, which costs $650 MSRP, or $455 with an Orient 30% discount code (try fall2012).So, what is the Orient Explorer? Well, on paper it's basically everything you'd want in a traveler's
This was an important part of American horology that is often taken for granted by collectors. What is a "dollar watch"?A dollar watch was a pocket watch or later, a wristwatch, that sold for about one dollar. The sale of these watches began in 1892 by the watchmakers Ingersoll, Waterbury, and New Haven. Later, Western Clock (Westclox) in 1899 and the E. Ingraham Company also began manufacturing them. Dollar watches were practical, mass-produced timepieces intended to be as inexpensive as possible. Trademarks of dollar watches were their simple, rugged design, movement (usually with a pin-pallet escapement, although sometimes with duplex escapements) which has either no jewels or just one jewel, width of about eighteen size (two inches), and sale price of about a dollar from 1892 until the mid 1950s. Many other companies made them, with literally hundreds of names on the dials. To keep costs down, the watches were often sold in flimsy cardboard boxes, which are now highly collectible. What
I found some japanese watches (Orient and Seiko) that have the wording Air Diver's 200M (or another rating)What is an Air Diver?Excuse me the ignorance, but I don't dive neither in water or air but like the style very much
As some of you may know, I am a die hard PP collector/enthusiast. That's not to say I don't appreciate other brands...it's just simply where I choose to put my horological investment. So that being said, let me confess, it takes something pretty special from AP to really get my motor running. Over the years there's been a number of these special pieces from Le Brassus I have pined for...but until recently never acted upon. Back in the spring when I saw the press release for the Royal Oak chronograph QEII Cup limited edition, I thought to myself I have to have one! So after months of searching, hours spent surfing, etc...I finally have one. Let me just say the search was worth it in the end, this piece is truly amazing.Upon opening the box and seeing the watch for the first time, I immediately noticed how the metal had a somewhat of a muted grey-hue to it that clearly distinguished it from stainless steel. Also what stood out to me was the fact that the different finishes on the case ha
