Hello I just joined the message board today. I want to purchase an authentic pilot's watch, or chronograph. I like the larger than normal face, and nothing gold, just steel, or chrome. I bought a watch that I thought was swiss made but found out later that the movement was made in China.. I would like to get a nice middle range priced watch, that I can keep and pass down in years to come. Either new or used. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I have always loved watches, and am now getting into collecting a few. Thanks
Am looking to get a new watch as a wedding gift from the soon-to-be wife, with some of the money coming from selling an old Baume & Mercier that was left by my grandfather. Was looking at B&M Classima and like this one a lot:Probably get a black band as well to use it for the wedding. Retail is around 1500.However, in searching these and other forums, I came across the Hamilton, which looks remarkably similar:Is the craftmanship/mechanics difference between the two worth the extra $1000 or so for the B&M? I think they look remarkably similar. I assume they both have an ETA action? I am also considering getting a Stowa as a second watch (yesI like simple white dials) - is that also an ETA action? Thanks
So I'm thinking of picking up a new watch and the new chronomat 44 gmt is in the mix. Problem is that I love the blue dial and the black one. Does anybody know how much of a pain in the ass it would be to get the dial changed in the event I grew tired of a particular color? Could any watchmaker do it or would I need to send it back to B to get it done? Any guess on how much it would cost?Anybody actually do it?Thanks
Just taking delivery of my green canvas strap from time connection. Will see how my 233 likes the new shoes. Still love the storm grey from toshi straps. The leather is so soft and supple on that one. This strap feels a little stiff at the moment so am hoping it will loosen up after a few wears.
