Omega 3855.55.11 wrist watches news:
Can I request some help? From the looking I have done this appears to be a early 50's bumper automatic?I built my brother in law a rifle and he gave me this as a gift as he knows my penchant for watches.Sorry for the crummy pic, I don't have my caseback opener with me as I am away from home visiting my family...
The Premier Maximus 16 size is a carefully finished and adjusted Waltham 23j Vanguard without the movement decoration. Before w.w. 1 came with silver box and 45 day British observatory trial accuracy certificate. Their best rail road watch plus. $400 in 1916. $732 in 1931 did not have cert. and sterling box then. The Premier photos are not mine. The catalog pages are from my 2 rare distributor catalogs. These showed list prices so that retailers could use as customer sales tools to help compete with Sears and Wards. All U.S. watches in these except Gruen who only sold direct for best customer support. Notice $732 for a $500 watch. The retailer got 50%+ discount then according to letter with the book. Recent sale for one over $10,000 and it is merely a refined gold cased $1000 Vanguard with wind indicator, or a $2000 conventional Maximus in gold case. My photo.
So I got to thinking this morning about my small collection of inexpensive (Any of my watches that have been recently serviced are all running within 2 seconds. I expect that (or close) when I pay to have the watch serviced and timed. But what about some of the other, cheaper watches? It hit me this morning that, since I have more than 2 weeks worth of vintages and wear them in daily rotations, even as much as a MINUTE off at the end of the day is OK. Because the next time I put it on, i'd need to set it ANYWAY.So what are your thoughts?-James
Hi all..I have always expressed some interest to an Omega speedmaster, but its kinda difficult to find a preowned one in my country.. And with the new omega AD that opened up recently, I can get a chance of at least buying one brand new..However, please don't get me wrong, an SS speedmaster on bracelet retails here at around 7,5l.. Is that the going price? And what kind of a discount should I expect?I thought it should be more affordable comparing with a daytona per se, yet I found that they're only 2k difference.. Yet I've seen people here or someother plac¨¦s sells for around 2-3k preowned..So is that the going price for preowed speedmaster? One thing I have to admit, I'm not very familiar with speedmasters, as I think they have several different types.. But I'm just talking in genereal.. And oh - I really like the strap version..And last but not least, what type of speedmaster should I get? I think I would prefer a black dial with steel and black leather strap? Thanks for reading!
Hi Guys,I searched the Forum and found an earlier thread on Omega's Ploprof Re-issue/Re-edition. Does anyone know the latest on that? Will that still be on the cards considering the current financial turmoil?Cheers
