What else could a watch company manufacture?
An interesting question I was asked by the proud owner of one of our watches from India in an e-mail recently. He stated that he was worried about companies from the Far East eating too much into Swiss companies¡¯ marketshares. As a consultant working with a large international consultancy he had done some research into the state of the industry in Switzerland recently.Indeed, this question came to my mind a few years ago as well. Business was good back then and there were no clouds of the current economic maelstrom to be seen in the skies.Basically there are three different kinds of watch companies. Those making everything in-house, those making part of their components in-house and those subcontracting most of what they need from a components¡¯ perspective. All three kinds of companies have one thing in common, however. They are all working with stainless steel.Based on this communality and on my company¡¯s special knack for decorative work I decided to explore the market for cutlery in

How to acquire a jubilee bracelet for my 16710?
Hi all, I have a D-serial (2005) no holes case 16710. Does anybody know the exact jubilee bracelet that was fitted for this model at the time? Correct me if I'm wrong, but my research shows me a 62510h, but there are so many different kinds. Is there a subset of letters I'm looking for such as RS7, K12 etc.? Was a jubilee bracelet available as an option in 2005/2006? I called in to RSC and they told me I couldn't get a jubilee bracelet because mine has the oyster bracelet currently on it, and it wasn't an option for D-serials. Were only certain bezel inserts fitted with the jubilee? For example, could I have purchased a Pepsi bezel with a jubilee in 2005/2006? If that's the case, I have all three bezel inserts if I need to swap out to thecorrect insert. I've called a few AD's and they said it's a trade out only policy at Rolex. Meaning, I would have to trade my perfectly fine oyster bracelet for a jubilee. I asked if I just sent the head in if I could purchase a jubilee, and they said

Just one more?
Greeting fellow enablers. Been a member for about a year and have truly enjoyed the camaraderie and the wealth of knowledge that has helped guide me. Recently was gifted a DJ II I have been after for a few years and was pleasantly surprised by my wife with that very model for our 24th anniversary. It¡¯s stunning and everything I thought it would be for my first Rolex.I have some very capable ponies in the stable in the form of a Ball NEDU, Ball 60 Seconds II, and a lovely Ball Marvelight. The new Datejust fits right in the rotation nicely but I find myself cautious about its durability, probably because it¡¯s just so gorgeous! My Ball NEDU gets the most wrist time as my daily driver. No worries about it¡¯s ability to stand up to my day to day activities. My question is this, any issues with maybe adding a SubC Date to round out the stable? Durable? Check. Iconic? Check. Fits my wrist and looks great? Check. Not really looking to have a world class collection, just trying to get to a 4-5 wat
