The main draw of the Japan only Citizen Chronomaster (previously discussed here) is really the movement. The Citizen A660 is a thermoline quartz movement that I spent some time discussing here. In summary it is a specially designed quartz movement that is able to modulate the vibration of the quartz crystal in differing temperatures to ensure consistency, which in turn allows for greater precision. A thermoline quartz movement is accurate to within about 5 seconds year! Looking at my first Rolex...but...need help.
I am looking at a used Submariner that seems to be older and well...used, but not beat up. The guy is more than willing to meet me at any Rolex AD of my choice to verify its authenticity since he does not have any paperwork, although he says it neither stolen or fake.Anyways what things should I look for and or ask for and the obvious question...will it be easy for the dealer to figure it out?I also told the seller I'd want the back opened up in addition to anything else the AD may want to check and he said no problem.Next is that he hasn't worn it for over 2 years. Does that mean a service will be required? If so how much does this run? I ask because my friend just traded both his Rolex GMT and Daytona in on two new Breitlings because he was sick of the both Rolexes constantly breaking down and requiring service which he say was expensive (this comming from a guy who netted $17 mill last year).Lastly he wants 2.2k but is willing to deal...is that a good price?
